A/N: whoaaaa chapter ten!

i wrote that like 3 days ago and haven't come back to it yet sooo yay chapter 10 let's gooooo-

"Maybe we should link arms. So that nobody gets lost if their candle goes out." Peggy said as the four of you walked further into the hill.

"They could just see the others' candles though." Mush pointed out.

Peggy said nothing, but Blink next to her secretly-but-not-really linked his arm with hers, which led to a little more pep in her step as she raised her candle higher to light up more of the cavern.

The surrounding area seemed to mostly be rock, with some wooden supports that dwindled in size and frequency as you progressed further in. The stable / barn part seemed to have ended when the cave ahead took a sharp right, and as the four of you took it, two of the candles went out.

It was suddenly a lot darker than before, and you let out a small squeak of surprise. Mush stepped slightly closer to you, holding his still-lit candle between the two of you. You latched your grip onto his forearm, forgetting to even blush as you looked at the strangely flat rock in front of you.

The strangely flat rock that was covered in all sorts of strange designs.

"Is that..." Peggy asked in a hushed whisper, looking at the red marks on the wall.

"I think it's clay." Blink said quickly, although he didn't make any move to get closer.

Mush nodded. "Yeah. Clay." He said, his voice a little strange.

"We should go." You spoke up. You couldn't go further into the cave anyway, and something about those markings creeped you out-- creeped everyone out, it seemed, by the way they all quickly agreed, backing out and back the way they came.

When you emerged into the sunlight- not as bright as it had been, before, but definitely brighter than the flickering candlelight in that dark cave-- the four of you turned to look at each other.

"Well, I guess we found your barn." Blink said after a heartbeat.

"I guess." You said, brow furrowed. "I... don't know if we should use it though."

Mush shook his head. "There's definitely somethin' weird about it." He said quietly.

"But we might have to. Since time and everything."

"I'm not sure if it's a good idea." Peggy voiced, still looking a little pale.

You sighed a bit. "I guess we should just tell the adults then, let them figure it out?"

"Or..." Mush said, his eyes seeming to light up a little. "We could try and figure it out ourselves."

"Figure what out?" Blink asked. "There's nothing to figure out. It's an old barn, it's creepy, we should just leave and let the adults figure it out."

"That's the first time I've ever heard you say that." Mush challenged. "We've done crazy stuff b'fore, r'member your old barn?"

"That was different." Blink hedged. "This is..."

"Dark." Peggy interjected. "Creepy. Terrifying. I'm still not sure that was clay."

"It was clay." Mush insisted. "There's gotta be a good reason for it, anyhow. Maybe it was just kids messin' around or somethin'."

"Yeah, maybe." Peggy said. "And maybe you're just tryin'a look brave."

"What's that supposed to mean, huh?" Mush asked.

"In front of Y/N."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

Peggy's reply was cut off by Blink. "Let's go, we should hurry and get back before dark."

Peggy nodded. So did Mush.

You cleared your throat a little awkwardly. "So... are we telling them?"

"I think a white lie may be fine. For now." Peggy said after a heartbeat. "But we're not keeping it up forever."

"That's fine. We'll figure it out soon."
