nini made her way towards the cafeteria on monday afternoon with her head in her books, rereading over her notes and trying to study for her test she had the next period.

"- no, not that one." carlos sighs as seb flipped another page of a book, the boy still shaking his head

"hey neens!" kourtney beans as the brunette girl took a seat next to ashlyn, her head still in her books

"hi," she replied monotonously as she scanned the papers before gina reached for the book cover and slammed it shut, making nini and carlos jump

"gina! i need to revise-"

"you're ready for your exam neens you've been revising non-stop," gina sighs "i'm getting a headache hearing you speak about organic chemistry."

nini rolled her eyes and slumped her chin onto the palm of her hands as she tilted her head to the side, taking interest at what seb and carlos were focusing on.

"what are you two doing?" she asks them

carlos looked up from the book and grinned "miss jenn gave me the folder of all of her different costume and choreography ideas for this year's musical. it has to be epic!"

nini's face lit up and she adjusted herself in the seat to join in on the conversation fully; theatre and music has always been her passion.

"what musical is it this year?" gina asks

"it's grease." seb answers excitedly

"it's going to be amazing! but there are so many different scenarios for the dance numbers to choose from." carlos sighs

"well, since it's grease in auditioning for rizzo," gina says simply, making the others chuckle

"nini's going to try out for the lead of course," ashlyn grins

nini raises her eyebrows "oh-uh-i don't know-"

"oh come on! you'd be amazing as sandy!" kourtney exclaims

"but isn't there like-a kiss at the end?" nini asks in a smaller voice than intended

everyone nodded "yeah why?"

nini quickly covers up her nerves with a scoff "i just-don't want to kiss a stranger. you know? it's just weird."

"what's weird?"

they all turn to see ej, big red and ricky arriving towards them with their lunch trays, nini rolling her eyes at the sound and sight of the curly-haired boy as he took a seat opposite her.

"none of your business." nini said as she opened back up her chemistry textbook and read over the pages

"wow roberts! here i thought i wouldn't get double the attitude from you today." ricky gasped in fake happiness, the group rolling their eyes at the usual dispute as they continued on with their own stuff.

"well i guess it's your lucky day!" nini exclaims with a fake smile, rolling her eyes once again as she closed her textbook and stood up from the table "i'm going to go to my locker." she announced to gina, who nodded as nini threw one more glare at ricky before walking off.

"seriously do you both have to be like this?" ej asks with a sigh

"what? she started it. i just finish our arguments." ricky defends with a shrug "what were you guys talking about anyway?"

"why would you care if it included nini?" ashlyn smirked

ricky rolled his eyes "i don't."

everyone exchanged looks, ricky groaning in frustration

"not this again." he sighed

"we didn't say anything." seb says

"but i know what you guys are thinking, and it's never going to happen." ricky replied "i don't even get where you guys got your little thoughts of me and nini being anything-"

"10 things i hate about you, princess diaries, the proposal, pride and prejudice, clueless, life as we know it- must i go on?" carlos asks with a heavy breath

ricky knits his eyebrows together and blinks "and you guys are seriously using fiction as an example?"

the bell rang and the group all stood up from the table, taking their belongings in hand.

"have you ever come to the thought that maybe you two could get along as friends at least?" big red asks

ricky stopped and tilted his head to 'think' about what his friend was asking before innocently smiling and shaking his head.

"bummer. no." he answered, the group all sighing as they made their way out of the cafeteria and to class.
