Ch. 7 "Reassuring"

                                              Spencer POV 

"I uh, I know Tony has done a lot for me these past few days," I said looking down at my drink, 

"So what seems to be the problem, why were you leaving?" James asked, 

"Well, I uh.." I paused, 

He placed his hand on my arm, 

I looked at him, 

"Take your time," He said gently 

I nodded, 

"So the past few days, he's uh, he's been calling and texting me," I whispered, 

James didn't say anything, I looked at him, 

"The guy who did this to you," He said touching my cheek gently 

I nodded, 

"So I thought that If I would go back, less chances of him getting to Tony or anyone here," I whispered, 

It got quiet, 

"Doll that would have been the worse thing you could've done," He said 

I looked at him, 

"But he wouldn't have-" I said 

James shook his head, 

"Look what he's done to you, and he's HYDRA, he can't be trusted," He said 

He held out his hand, 

"Let me see," He said 

I'm guessing he's asking for my phone, 

I hesitated, 

"Doll I can't help you if you don't let me," He said gently, 

I sighed 

Dug into my bag and got my phone out handing it too him, 

He scrolled through the messages, 

His eyebrows scrunching, a scowl on his face, 

"Why didn't you tell Tony?" He asked 

"Because don't you think I've dragged him into my mess enough," I whispered, 

"So, he's your brother," He said 

"I I uh don't want to trouble him anymore, it's bad enough he found out about this, But I didn't know what to do," I whispered, 

"Doll trust if you wouldn't have come, things would have gotten much worse," He said 

I didn't say anything I just looked down at my drink, 

"Doll look at me," He said gently 

I couldn't I felt like I was going to cry again, 

Then suddenly the tear fell down my cheek into the drink I was holding making a dripping noise that echoed in the room, 

"Doll," He whispered, 

I slowly looked up at him, 

"Please don't cry," He said whipping the tears away from my cheeks with his thumbs, 

"I know it's hard, the betrayal, the hurt," He said 

"But it's each day at a time, I promise it will get better, It will all work out," He said 

"How do you know?" I asked looking at him through my eyelashes 

"Experience, believe it or not, I know a thing or two about betrayal and hardship," He said 

I sniffled knowing full well what he's talking about Tony kept me up to date on everyone including him, 

Every time we talked, 

I nodded, 

"You used to be the winter solider," I said quietly 

He smiled at me and nodded, 

"They wiped my mind and had me doing their dirty work," He said 

"But when Steve found me I thought I would never get through it, But Steve and the others helped me, Just like I'm going to help you, your not in this alone Spencer, just know that," He said 

I nodded my lip quivering, 

"Thank you.." I whispered, 

"Of course," He said brushing my hair behind my ear,

                                              Bucky POV 

After I escorted Spencer back to the lab I made my way to Stark, 

I knocked on his office door, I knew he would be awake, the guy never sleeps, 

"It's open," He said 

I walked in, 

He looked up looking at me confused, 

"Barnes? everything alright?" He asked 

"I caught her leaving the tower," I said sitting down across from his desk, 

"Spencer?" He asked 

"Yeah, she was about to go back to him," I said crossing my arms, 

"What?" He asked 

"Yeah, because of this," I said handing him her phone, 

He looked at the messages, 

"She said she didn't want to trouble you any further, that if she would go back, it would stop that," I said 

Stark placed his hand on his face rubbing his face, 

"Oh Spence," He mumbled 

"So what do we do?" I asked 

He looked at me, 

"Look I know you don't do the whole watching over thing but do you think?" He asked 

I nodded, 

"Not a problem," I said 

He nodded, 

"In the mean time I'm going to try and find this son of a bitch," He said full of anger, 

I nodded 

"Let me know when you find him," I said darkly 

He nodded, 

with that I walked out,
