15. The Hex Bag

Colby and I are currently lying on the bed, Jake, Corey and Sam are sat on the couch watching TV when my phone rings. I pick it up and see Mike's name across the screen
"Hey Mike what's up?" I say into the phone after accepting the call "what do you mean?.... did she say she saw.... oh shit.... was there anything else?.... fuck... book a flight as soon as possible I'll speak to Corey" I end the call and look up to Corey
"What's going on? Why do you need to speak to me?" he asks looking rather concerned
"It's Clare"
"Is she ok?" Colby asks
"Depends on what you mean by ok. She had a nightmare. She's seen the Shadow Man. Corey, has your brother ever seen him?"
"Yeah he errm, he text me yesterday saying he saw him"
"Shit" I breath out sitting on the couch
"There's more isn't there?" Sam asks
"Mike said that Clare told him that in her dream she saw a boy around her age. He didn't see her, but she saw the Shadow Man getting closer to this boy. The boy was screaming your name" I look up to Corey
"This is some fucked up shit"
"What do we do" Jake asks
"Jake if I knew, I would be doing it right now" I begin to raise my voice
"Rose calm down we will figure this all out" Colby says hugging me.

Back in the hotel with Jake and Sam are watching TV, Colby is in the shower, Corey is on the phone to his brother and I am looking in the books that we took
"Oh my God" I yell making everybody jump and look at me
"What's wrong?"  Sam asks me
"That bag in the house wasn't a hex bag. It was a protection bag"
"How do you know?" Jake asks
"There's a note on this page"
"Read it out when Corey is off the phone and Colby has come out of the shower" Sam says. Once Corey is finished on the phone and Colby is out of the shower and begin to explain what I have found out
"The note says, this should keep the Shadow Man from entering Rose's mind. I have set some around my house for Corey and so far it has worked, but remember if they ever touch an ouija board, that's it the spell will be broken"
"So some woman or man wrote a note to keep the Shadow Man away from you and Corey? So did your mother know who Corey was?" Jake asks looking rather confused, as am I and everyone else in the room
"Is there anything else on that note?" Corey asks taking the note from my hand
"Yeah there was a woman's name on the note, Christy"
"That's my moms name" Corey looks freaked out
"That's just a coincidence right? My mom and your mom can't have known each other" I frown looking at the boys
"I think we have looked into this enough for tonight"
"Yeah Colby's right it's pretty late. We need to go to your other house tomorrow and sort stuff out" Sam says
"I'm selling most of it though. I'll wait till Clare arrives so she can see if she wants anything, I don't want a reminder of that house or those people"
"Babe, he was still your dad"
"No he wasn't, a dad is meant to love you. Let's just go back to our room. We will see you guys in the morning" I say taking Colby's hand and leaving the room. 

We get back into our hotel room. I go into the bathroom and get changed into my sleepwear and take my make-up off. When I walked back into the bedroom Colby is all ready under the covers and so I join him. I lay dow on his chest and sigh
"There's no way my mum and Corey's mom knew each other. I mean how would they? I grew up in New York and he grew up in Florida"
"Like you said, it's probably a coincidence. Now it's been a long day and we all need to go to sleep"
"Your right. Goodnight Colbs"
"Goodnight Row" he kisses my forehead and I drift off to sleep.

For the remainder of the time in New York we just end it sorting the house out. We decided we would figure the paranormal stuff out once back home in LA.
