when kaeya dropped y/n off at her house, it was almost morning. she had to clock into work in less than three hours, and truthfully she wasn't feeling it. but a paycheck was a paycheck, so she was just going to take a small nap and then get ready to go to work.
when she flopped onto her bed, she felt drowsy immediately. although she was tired, she kept tossing and turning. all she was thinking about was how kaeya held her hand. it was warm. a smile adorned her face as she felt her eyes closing. within two minutes she had fallen asleep, and dreamt of the past she wanted to forget.

her mother had disappeared one night. whenever she would ask her dad about what happened he would never give a clear answer. the truth was, a child as young as y/n wouldn't be able to process the idea of death. her grieving father had no way to express his loss. the only way he was able to cope was by ignoring his daughter who wanted to see her mother again.
a few years had passed since then. y/n was older, old enough to understand death, but too young to move on. during those years she had slowly begun to distance herself from the other kids her age. it was partly due to her father's influence, and partly because she couldn't find the strength to make bonds with anyone else.
