BLUE

“Blue, wake up! Let’s play. Mister Sun is already here na oh. Blue!” panggigising ng kakambal ko sa akin.

“I’m still sleepy Mint. Let me sleep for another 10 minutes. Lumabas ka muna please, inaantok pa ako,” I replied lazily.

I still don’t have the appetite to wake up from bed, but this little ass on my side already have the appetite to mock me up early in the morning.

“But it’s already morning na Blue. Manang told us na matutulog lang ang mga tao kapag gabi. Come na, let’s play. Please,” he uttered with a hint of tenderness.

Ang kulit din ng batang ‘to eh! I opened my eyes partly, enough for me to see his face. His porcelain-like face blindingly radiated as the rays of the sun hit his delicate skin. I can also see his pouted fluffy lips pointing on me. Akala niya siguro makukuha niya ako sa mga paganyan-ganyan niya. Never again! Wait—did I said “again”? Oows! Well, I can’t tell you what it is. I don’t want to be a spoiler.

“Oh, bud! What are you doing?” a deep, manly voice from the outside spoke.

That’s Dad by the way. He always call my twin brother “bud” while me—“kiddo”, which I think the most gross call sign that the people around me gave to me. I’m not a kid anymore! I, maybe, seven years old but I can think like I’m 18.  That “kiddo” thing? It only fits to those kids who know nothing but eat, sleep, and play. Reminder: I’m not a bigot here. It’s not my fault if you got offended, but you can accept my humble apologies.

“Si Blue, Dad oh. He keeps on sleeping even though Mister Sun is already rising,” he uttered softly. Patuloy pa rin siya sa pagyugyog sa akin.

And here goes the TOP COMPLAINANT OF THE YEAR. The kid who always throw his complaints to anyone else—and that is my twin brother. Christopher Mint Lim.

“Let him sleep bud. Maybe he’s just tired,” Dad defended my side. That’s right Dad. You’re having a good job on defending me. “Don’t worry. He will play with you once he wake up,” he uttered as he walked towards my bed.

Dad sat on my bed beside Mint.

“I will go to work for today. Don’t give your mommy and Manang headaches. Okay?” Dad uttered which Mint happily nodded. “Can I have my kisses from my twins?”

“Yes Dad!” Mint shouted happily, but I still maintain my sleeping composure. I’m so lazy to get up just to give him my kiss.

Dad approached Mint and gave him a forehead kiss which he always do whenever he will proceed to work. I felt the ascension of the bed foam and I can now feel my Dad’s warm breath over my face.

“I know you’re not sleeping kiddo,” Dad uttered and I can sense that he smiled mockingly. There he goes with that quotation marks kiddo-thing again. “Just don’t mock your twin brother so hard,” he whispered to my ears.

Dad, you’re the one who is mocking me right now. I suddenly felt a fluffy and wet thing touched my forehead and Dad gently tapped my head, making my hair messier, I think?
