The feel of his lips against mine washed over me, sending my senses into overdrive. His tongue flicked sensually against mine and I bit back the urge to moan, my toes curling from my dangling feet. His huge fingers snaked around my waist, bunching the thin fabric by my side and leaving a scorching desire for more.
Before I could comprehend anything else, he let go of my lips and found the sensitive spot beneath my ear. I hissed, pleasure thrumming through my veins and blurring my senses.
This kiss was doing things to me. Things I really didn't like.
"You're enjoying it that much eh?" There was no way I could miss the sarcasm and pride wrapped in his voice, but what I was feeling was too good to be interrupted by a comeback from me.
He grazed my collar bone and sucked on it, his tongue dancing on my pale skin.
The bell chimed loudly, knocking me out of my daydream. I'd been reliving that night. Again. Tucking my head deeper into my peaked cap, I heaved my backpack over my shoulder and shuffled out of the auditorium with other students.
I'd missed a whole hour's worth of valuable knowledge, all because of Max freaking Woods.
Not that I actually cared anyway.
I drank in the school's lobby, the students ' bubbling laughter and chit-chat threatening to damage my hearing permanently. Posters lined the walls, advertising and displaying things I wasn't actively interested in.
"Hey." Kim popped up beside me, slinging her hand around my shoulder. Her short hair was tied up in a loose bun, its pink dye catching the sunlight and accentuating her freckles. " Where are you off to?"
"Dunno." I shrugged, wondering how she was so cheery while I was down in the dumps. " Wherever my feet take me."
"Hmm." She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.
" You mean Mr. Woods office, don't you?""Hey." I yelled both at her and some dude who'd just shoved into me. " Watch where you're going. And no, I don't know."
"Well, I do." She smirked. " And I'm pretty sure you're like this because of him."
"You know what," I halted, almost sending Kim to reel forward. " I don't have time for this. So I'm going to the..."
The words died in my throat as an excruciating jolt of pain shot up my shoulder and I careened forward, barely steadying myself against the black tiled floor.
"What the?" I shrieked, my eyes searching for the perpetrator but I found nothing. All that glared back at me were the stoic faces of students milling about their normal business. "Which one of you dumbasses shoved me just now?"
"Diane." Kim crouched beside me, her eyes scanning my face for any other injury. "Are you okay?"
"I said," I called out again, louder than before hoping that the high octave to which my voice had risen would cause the twerp to at least flinch or make me catch him, but jeers were thrown at me and I felt the anger in my veins get doused with ice water. " Who the hell shoved me just now?"
"Leave it Di," Kim helped me to my feet. Luckily, none of my things had spilled out of my backpack so I heaved it over my shoulder but regretted the action immediately. " Are you okay Di? I think we should go to the nurse."
"I'm fine." I shook my head, angling my shoulder so it wouldn't hurt so much. "I just need a quick trip to the bathroom. I'll see you in class. Save me a seat."
Without giving her a chance to speak, I weaved through the crowd of bodies and made my way to the bathroom. I slammed the door shut and made a beeline for the mirror. My instincts told me the stalls were empty and I exhaled gently, grateful for some alone time. My eyes flicked to the mirror and the reflection that gazed back at me didn't look like mine.
