Part 6 || 25 - You and I

"Tom" I breathed out as he turned around. He took a few steps back and stared at me, like he didn't believe I was standing there. He looked terrible.

It was raining but I could figure out his tears and the rain drops clearly in my sleep. A hurtful expression found its place on his face.

He pulled his hand up to my face to cup my cheek. I tried to lean into his touch, but the minute his palm touched my cheek, he withdrew his hand back.

"What do you want?" He asked plastering a cold expression on his face. I cleared my throat before speaking, "I- I know, I, erm, I just came here to tell you, I know I couldn't just call you, which I did, erm, but you didn't pick it up-"

"Stop rambling and get to the point" he demanded squinting his eyes. I took a deep breath in, "I don't know, I just came here to tell you, that I love you" I saw his face soften a little.

"I am still completely and totally and utterly in love with you. I don't know about you, but seeing you after almost three years, I— all the memories came back, even the bad ones. But those only made me realise that even when that happens, I want you and just you, no one else" I said as the rain wet us, not caring about the cold.

"No" he said shaking his head. "You left me, even when I begged you not to. I told you everything would fall apart and it did. It hurt, you hurt me, when you left, it broke my heart in a million pieces. You went away and it hurt. And now you're back in my life and you're going to leave again and it's going to hurt again. I don't think I'll be able to take all that pain ever again" he continued as tears flowed down his cheeks.

"Tom-"

"No, Shorty. No, I can't do it. You left me-"

I scoffed, "You're acting like it's all my fault!" I yelled as I took a step closer to him, "Yes, it is!" He yelled back. "No, it isn't! You wanna know why I walked away that day? You wanna know why I left my whole life behind and moved to another country? It took you more than ten years to realise your love for me but it didn't take me a minute to realise my worth. And don't act I didn't fight for you" I pushed him from his chest, "I did, I gave you three chances, I confessed three times, but you always chose her. And if you ever had to choose between us, then the choice was clear, it was always her, because if you had feelings for me, then there would've been no choice-"

"But I did the right thing!" He said grabbing my shoulders. "No you fucking didn't. You realised that when I leave, no one's going to be there for you, not Jade, not me, so you felt lonely and grabbed whatever thing was closest to you. I'm not a toy!" I said as I jerked his hands off of my shoulders.

I thought he would apologise, but no...

"It's your fault-"

"Is it a mistake to fall in love with someone, huh, Tom? I loved you since the beginning and I didn't even realise it. When I saw my parents kissing or in love, I thought I wanted it with you. And later on, I did want it with you, but you... you never did"

Still not a word.

"Fine! Before I leave and this time, I will not look back ever, I will supress the urge to call you or to text you or even look at you, I just wanna say, that you were the one who ruined the friendship, not me. So don't go telling people only that I left you, tell them the reason that made me leave. Tell them the whole story and see whose side they are on. See how they tell you that I was the one who gave you everything, that I was there for you, that I cared and loved you deeply and you threw it all away. You've hurt me and now... now you lost me" I said angrily, but at the last part, it broke me to say it, "Fuck you too!" I yelled and turned around to leave.
