Chapter 13

Well, the party Ibuki had mentioned was...something. Fuyuhiko was pretty happy about it, though he wasn't smiling as much as you thought. He had changed a bit, he wasn't as vulgar and rude as he used to be. Actually, he was quite sociable!

"Kuzuryu-kun certainly had changed, huh?" you said to Hajime who was standing next to you. He nodded and continued staring off into space. Well, you guessed he was pretty exhausted after having to endure four deaths.

"I still can't believe Saionji-san decided to come. She was making it quite clear that she hated Kuzuryu-kun yesterday, " said Hajime. "Well, Koizumi-san wouldn't want her to have such feelings. Maybe Hiyoko-chan came for her sake?" you replied.

Hajime shrugged and crossed his arms. Ibuki ran onto the big stage that was at the venue of the party and shouted something into the microphone. Oh, cool, music! Ibuki was the Ultimate Musician, so the BGM was definitely going to be good.

...Well, you wouldn't say it was bad. Just quite strange. The title of the song made it seem like a tender love song, but Ibuki broke into a somewhat angry screaming. It was shocking but very interesting, and you couldn't help but smile.

You scanned the room and looked at everyone's faces. They all looked...happy. But something was bugging you, you didn't know what. Something...or someone was missing. It was Akane! Where could she be? You froze at the thought.

She...She couldn't be...? No, it's no use thinking such negative things! Perhaps she's just running late because she wanted a snack! Despite these thoughts floating around in your head, you inched a little closer to Hajime and whispered to him.

"Hey...do you think Owari-san's alright? She's not here, " you said. Hajime perked up and frowned, thinking deeply. It seems the same thought struck him. "She should be. If she really was...well...you know, another person would be gone, " said Hajime.

That made sense. Akane was with everyone in the daytime, so she would have to killed during the party. And everyone else was here, so it meant she was fine. That was quite a relief. You let out a sigh of relief and drank the drink in your hand.

Suddenly, the door burst open and in waddled a crying Monomi. She looked pretty shaken up. "P-Please...you gotta help!" she wailed. You raised your eyebrow inched closer to her. "What's wrong, Monomi? Help with what?" you asked.

"A-Akane is...trying to fight Monokuma!" screamed Monomi, little beads of tears dropping out of her eyes. You let out a gasp of horror as everyone exclaimed. "WHAT!? WHAT IS THAT IDIOT DOING!?" roared Nekomaru, clenching his fists.

Nekomaru was really close with Akane. He helped her train to be stronger. Everyone ran outside and to the beach quickly. Akane was so reckless sometimes! You knew she wanted to prove her strength, but Monokuma was definitely capable of many things!

Everyone stopped at the sight that unfolded before them. Akane was in a fighting stance, teeth clenched and face fixed in a glare. Monokuma stood opposite her, short yet confident, his face also fixed in a glare.

"You dummy! You dare oppose me, the great Monokuma!" yelled Monokuma, his face going bright red. Akane stayed silent. "Owari-san, please don't do this! You're risking your life!" you cried loudly, gripping Hajime's hand.

"Well, I'd rather risk my life than let that damn bear walk all over me!" growled Akane. Monokuma let out a low growl. His arm suddenly turned into a...bazooka? He pointed it at Akane and let out a loud cackle.

"Oh god, we have to act to fast!" said Hajime. But someone was already ahead of him. Nekomaru lunged forward and stood in front of Akane. A white light suddenly clouded everyone's vision and it was silent for only a moment.

"N-Nidai-kun!" was the first thing you heard before coming back to your senses. Your vision adjusted and you stared at the scene before you. Nekomaru was on the ground, bleeding from a nasty wound made in his chest.

Akane was kneeling over him, a shocked look oh her face. "Why...Why did you save me?" she asked quietly. "Well, I couldn't let you die, could I? You're strong Akane, and that's why you gotta live and survive this killing game, " spluttered Nekomaru.

He was still alive, but his pulse was weak! "We need to get him to a hospital! Monokuma, please take Nidai-kun to the hospital!" you said. It took some arguing to get Monokuma to agree, but he eventually did take Nekomaru to the hospital.

Akane was silent as she watched the ambulance drive away. You out a hand on her shoulder and rubbed it comfortingly. "Nidai-kun's gonna be fine, " she said suddenly. "Hey, don't go making assumptions, this is your fault, you know!?" yelled Hiyoko.

"Hiyoko-chan!" you said in a stern voice. "No, I'm positive. Nidai-kun won't die that easily, " continued Akane. You smiled awkwardly. Maybe she was just trying to be positive. Ibuki hugged you from behind and snuggled your shoulder.

"Y/N-chan! Don't be so worried! Kuzuryu-chan came back all better, which means Monokuma knows what he's doing!" cried Ibuki cheerfully. She was also worried about Nekomaru, but Ibuki likes to think positive.

"Yeah, you're probably right, " you said with a small smile. Everyone went back to their cabins to sleep for the night. On your way there, you couldn't help but think. 'Just when everyone seems to be happy, despair had to follow us...' you thought.

You flopped down on your bed and fell into a contented sleep. Everything was just so infuriating that it was all you could do to not scream. If only you knew what was to become of the next day, you might've prepared yourself more...
