Ravenna and Aleksander were fighting off the volcra, there were dozens of them and it seemed to be never-ending. She shot, slashed, kicked, deflected, and ducked the Volcras that were attacking her and Aleks.
Ravenna knew that her betrayal must have broken Mal and Alina's hearts, but it was not like they didn't betray her either. They betrayed her by not understanding her well enough to know that she has been leaving in fear this whole time because of the humans. It was astonishing that they left her for dead after finding out that she disagreed with their logic.
Even when she realized that Alina had betrayed her by not wanting to expand the fold, she never intended to hurt her. Every time Aleksander felt like torturing the both of them, it was always Ravenna who begged him to not harm them. She never liked it when either Mal or Alina was in pain. So it was bewildering that they actually left her to die in the fold as Ravenna would never do that to them.
"I'm out of bullets, Aleks," Ravenna shouted to him, who was fighting off the Volcra with his shadow blade. But still, even though Aleks was skilled, he couldn't fend off the Volcra on his own.
Aleksander pushed Ravenna away from him as he realized that Volcra was much more interested in attacking him than her. He couldn't let her die.
Ravenna was shocked when Aleksander pushed her, but as she saw the Volcras started to swamp him and one of them slashed its claws to his face, her power started to go haywire and she wailed for her lover. Black mists started to come out from her hands. She couldn't breathe, she couldn't speak, and was completely unaware of the Volcras that she destroyed with her black mists. The volcras were writhing in pain as her abilities reached them before they vaporized from the extreme fear and pain they were feeling.
She fell to her knees, exhausted as she just drained all of her powers. Aleksander was shocked when all of the volcras vaporized into nothing from Ravenna's black mist. As he walked towards her and she began to stand up, a volcra flew to her and jammed one of its claws to her stomach.
Aleksander killed it with his shadow blade but by the time he reached her, she fell down to the ground with blood pouring out of her wound. Without a second thought, he took off his kefta and pushed it on her wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding. His heart sank in utter despair and tears started to fall down the sides of his cheeks as he was unable to hold back surging waves of emotions. Not his Ravenna.
"Just stay awake, okay? Everything would be alright-"
"Run, Aleks. You gotta leave me here," Ravenna coughed, trying to subdue the pain.
"No... No way," he protested, tears kept on slipping past his breathtaking obsidian eyes. She shakily reached for his face and lovingly wiped off his tears with a soft swipe. The tips of her fingers created a lingering sensation of warmth on his cheeks.
"It's okay," she whispered.
"I'm not leaving you," he hugged her body closer, not caring about the blood smearing his skin and clothes. He didn't want to lose her. He didn't want to lose the butterflies in his stomach every time he saw her. He didn't want to lose the warmth, comfort, and love.
