"It's not good," Derek muttered and Margo glanced up at him confused. Both of them were exhausted from looking for their child who'd decided, after a tragic breakup that had happened earlier in the day, to go on his own exhibition and tell no one. It had worried them both tremendously and Derek had quickly led them to find him. The old man was fuming and tired and wanted nothing more than to scold his son for worrying them both. "He reeks of misery," he added on.
He was about to step forward but Margo grabbed onto his arm that was covered by his coat. "Let me handle this one, first. The scolding can come later," she urged, and he sighed before nodding.
Walking forward, she stepped around the mazes of bushes and flowers before she found him sat on an old stone bench that had been so well kept considering when it was built. Aiden was sat on it with his head hanging low and tears marring his cheeks.
Taking a seat beside him, she sighed glancing at him with her eyes softened out of concern. "You know, you scared your father and I," she pointed out, reaching out brushing her hand over his head to fix his hair and he nodded already knowing that he was going to have to give a lengthy explanation and apology.
"She didn't love me," he muttered.
"Who, Amber?" Margo asked, and he nodded, "I'm sure she held some love for you," she assured. She'd seen the pair together and she would not be able to believe that there was a possibility that she did not hold a single ounce of love for him even if it wasn't romantic.
"But not enough...I just...I wanted..." she waited patiently for him to finish and allowed her hand to rest on his shoulder, "I wanted what you and dad have...what you've always had."
"It takes years to build a relationship like that. You're still a child, you'll find someone and be in love and they will love you just as much," she promised.
"But that's still not enough. I want more than love I want... I want to have someone who I am devoted to just as much as they are to me," he explained and her brows furrowed confused, "like you and dad have."
"You know, me and your father have had our own fair share of problems within our romantic life: he's a liar you know, and he tried to kill a few people...including my brother at one point, now that I'm mentioning it I'm starting to think I shouldn't be with him," she admitted.
"What your mother is trying to say," a voice cut in, and both of them looked in front of them to see that Derek had managed to sneak up on them. He had his arms crossed and was looking irritated in a comical way, "is that every romance has its problems."
"But you managed to overcome them and now you're spending the rest of your life together."
"And one day you will too. If it's meant to be it'll be," Derek assured, "it took me seven years to even get your mother to look at me romantically."
"You'll find someone one day who you will love for all eternity," Margo assured, moving her hand to brush his hair back again, "goodness you're just like your father. None of you can dress yourselves," she sighed and Aiden broke out in a smile.
Derek only rolled his eyes exasperatedly, "are you done insulting me?"
"I'll never be finished with that," she teased before she held out her hand to Derek which was a silent command to get him to help her stand up. He did so instinctively, and she turned around so that she was facing her son although she did not release her hold on Derek's folded arm, "now come on," she began pressing a kiss to his forehead, "we've got some chocolate cake for desert."
"Home-made?" He asked hopefully, and she smiled with a nod.
"Of course."
He took her hand, before pushing himself up and the three began to walk in the direction of home, "Talia's not home is she?" He asked, with a grimace and Margo rolled her eyes. Talia and Aiden bickered more than she had ever done with Stiles but she saw the love that they held for each other.
"She's your sister, Aiden, but no she's on a date with a girl called Maddie," Margo admitted, she felt rather thankful and grateful that she'd had the privilege of her daughter actually wanting to tell her that kind of information.
"Good, more cake for me."
"Well son, after the stunt you pulled today..." Derek began, and Margo began to smirk amused as Aiden groaned knowing that despite the lovely moment they'd had he was now going to get in trouble. "You're on rations."
"What if I just stole some?" Aiden countered and Derek looked to him with a raised brow.
"You'd have to get past me," Derek countered.
"But you're an old man now-"
"-and I can still kick your ass, now go bring the car around," he ordered passing the keys to his son.
"Why can't you do it?"
"Because I'm helping your mother," Margo was the one to sigh as the pair began to bicker. She also didn't actually need any help.
Aiden groaned but stomped off in that annoying sulky way that young teenagers always did regardless. Tightening her grip on Derek's arm, Margo looked up at him with her eyes narrowed.
"I'm not incapable of walking to the car," she pointed out, and he shrugged.
"I know, but I like helping you," he reminded leaning down and pressing a kiss to the top of her head, "I'm going to kill that boy one day though."
"He reminds me of a teenager I once had to deal with," she admitted through a sigh, and he nodded with a hum before he realised what the implication was.
"'Scuse me?"
"I said nothing, darling," she teased, pressing a kiss to his cheek before she continued walking dragging him with her slightly.
