Ellie and I were together for a short time.

Then I discovered her age, and I broke it off. It was one of the dumbest decisions of my life. Ellie fell into a life of drugs and a relationship that was very unhealthy.

It was pure luck that I ever found her again.

I was flipping through CDS in a tiny record shop in Chicago. It was pretty empty, save for a few hipsters and stoners. It wasn't an exciting time, but it was something to do. I hadn't thought about Ellie in years. I hadn't seen her in five, why would I have thought of her?

My life was good. Fall Out Boy was on hiatus, but I had just released my first solo album. I was the healthiest I'd been in my entire life. I was enjoying everything, it was nice. I wasn't constantly traveling around the world for the first time in ages. I spent my time with friends and family. I couldn't have asked for more, I didn't ask for more.

I instinctively looked towards the door when I heard the bell on the door ring. It wasn't something I would have usually been interested in, but the woman who entered caught my attention. A purple hoodie, tight jeans, and canvas sneakers was what she wore. She kept her head down for the most part, she clearly didn't want to draw attention to herself. I couldn't help but stare, I recognized her instantly.

Ellie.

I watched her walk into another isle full of vinyl. I started moving down the shop towards her end of the store, hoping she'd want to speak to me. By the time I made it to her, her fingers were quickly seperating the records, stopping on each one for only a single moment. I couldn't help but smile as she did so, it was strangely beautiful. (Note: Yes, I'm aware how creepy that sounds.) She stopped and lingered on an album, before lifting it up.

"Patrick." I heard her mutter my name as she flipped the sleeve over to look at the song list.

"That's a good one." I wasn't really sure why I said it, but I did. It was true, at least I thought so.

"I'm sure it is. I know... Knew Patrick. He's sweet and very talented." She didn't seem to have realized who she was speaking to. "He's great."

"Thanks."

"Patrick." She looked over her shoulder and met my gaze. "Patrick Stump."
