They arrived at a park, Kai let go of Jo's arm and pushed her forward, causing her to lose her balance for a second. He stayed back with Lana for a while, whispering in her ear.

"Look at all those pretty planets, all twinkling and bright." Kai's warm breath in Lana's neck made her shiver. Kai smiled yet again, walking towards Jo.

"Oh, Josette. You wouldn't believe how tired I am of eclipses." He told his sister.

"Let's just get this over with." Jo said. Lana knew she could help Jo. She could send her her magic, just like she did the night they rescued Elena. But if she made her strong enough, Kai would be the one who died. And even though Lana had been ready to kill Kai at the high school that night, that didn't mean she could do it now. No, now she's had time to think about it. She couldn't bear the thought of causing this boy to die, no matter how horrible he was. She hated herself for it.

"Now if you think that I haven't spent the last eighteen years in solitary not thinking about how you screwed me over last time, you're wrong." Kai said while making a cut on his palm, not even flinching. "So if this is just another set up, I'll rip something out more important than a spleen. A tongue, or a heart. So, any closing remarks?"

"You're a parasite. You killed the people I loved, you shoved a hunting knife in my gut, you destroyed my life. Now I'm gonna destroy yours." Jo held up her hand. Kai grabbed it and made a cut on her palm too; which caused her to wince in pain.

"I guess we'll see." He whispered to her, then he looked at Lana and slightly smiled at her. "What about you, any closing remarks from my little Teddy Bear?" He asked her.

"What happened to you?" Lana whispered, her voice thick with tears. She has never felt so helpless in all her life. She couldn't save Jo without killing Kai, because she knew that if she tried stopping him, he'd kill her. And she'd have to fight back. But she couldn't kill him. Not yet; maybe not ever.

Kai's expression turned soft for a millisecond, Lana's tears was clearly doing something to him. But then his eyes turned stone cold. 'You died." Was all he said, his words shattering Lana's heart.

Kai turned to face Jo, he gripped her hands tight and they begun chanting. Lana found herself wishing that she could slip away, that the other her would just take over and destroy something. The wind picked up and Lana's hair whipped around her face. Suddenly Jo's eyes snapped open; she was thrown back and she was lying on the cement, motionless. Lana ran to help her, but the same force knocked her out. Everything went black as she heard Luke's voice in the background.

Lana awoke to Jo, shaking her. "I'm up, I'm up." Lana mumbled, slightly disoriented. It was dark and the night air was cold, Lana could hear street lights exploding. She pushed herself up on her elbows then, watching as Kai and Luke merged.

"Luke, don't!" Jo yelled at her younger brother, her voice breaking. They continued chanting, holding hands and making things blow up. Suddenly both boys' eyes turned a dead white, they stopped their chanting and they fell backwards.

"No!" Jo cried, struggling to find her footing and then running over to where Luke fell. Lana glanced at Kai, she wondered if he'd won or not. Her eyes were wet with tears and she still couldn't get to her feet. Luke must have stroke her extra hard. She crawled over to where Kai was lying motionless on the ground. She could hear Jo crying and urging Luke to to wake up.

Lana came to a stop next to Kai's head, staring at him for a while. She wasn't crying anymore, she wasn't feeling anything, really. All she could think of was that if Kai died like this, it wouldn't be okay. Kai wanted this more than anything, he snapped because of Lana's death. Because he found out his parents didn't want him and Jo to merge. If Kai had to die, it would be Lana killing him. Not Luke, not Kai's dad, no one.

She took Kai's hand in hers, slightly tingling where his skin touched hers. His hand felt cool, like he's been out in the cold for too long. They sat like that for a while, Jo holding Luke and begging him to wake up, and Lana silently sitting next to Kai, holding his hand.

Lana looked up as Damon jogged towards them, looking disgustedly at Lana and Kai's intertwined hands.

"Good, you're still alive. That's gonna save me a huge blow from Rick when he gets back. But I'm definitely coming into something late." Damon said, glancing at Jo and then at Lana.

"Luke showed up and then merged with Kai." Lana choked out when Jo couldn't form words. Lana looked guiltily at Luke, lying in Jo's arms. She hated herself for wishing him dead, so that Kai could live.

"Huh. So I guess adding the words 'twin merge' to my vocabulary was pointless, coz' they ain't twins." Damon said again.

"He's not supposed to be here. The only reason he's here is because you let Kai out!" Jo yelled at Damon, then she looked at Lana. "And you. You just stood there and watched; you didn't step in to help even though you could. You could've stopped this, but instead you were so obsessed with the fact that I gave you up all those years ago." Jo cried and Lana started shaking. Tears started forming again and this time she sobbed.

"I'm sorry, Jo!" She sobbed, shaking her head. She was the Slayer, she was supposed to kill Kai and save Luke. Damon just looked at Lana sympathetically, then he tried to give Luke his blood but Jo stopped him.

"No, it's up to them now." She whispered. "Whoever wakes up is the winner and whoever doesn't..." Jo trailed off, stroking Luke's face. Lana decided to get up. She let Kai's hand fall to the ground and she got to her feet. Just as she was walking towards Jo and Luke, Luke opened his eyes. He took a breath.

"Can you hear me?" Jo breathed, her eyes widening. "Luke, can you hear me?" Luke's eyes started fluttering shut again.

"Luke! Wake up." Jo whispered desperately. Luke's eyes opened then; but they stayed open. He wasn't blinking, he wasn't breathing, just numbly staring at the stars.

Jo started breathing rapidly, then it turned to sobs. Luke was dead, he'd lost. Lana's hand flew up to cover her mouth as she sobbed, too. She couldn't even think about how she was relieved that Kai wasn't dead. She squeezed her eyes shut.

"He's gone." Jo sobbed, glancing up at Damon who was obviously feeling very guilty. "He saved me and he's gone." She cried. Damon glanced at Lana.

"You win some you lose some." A voice snaps Lana out of her guilt trip. Everyone's necks snap around to the sound of Kai's voice.

"Except for me." Kai's cocky grin was in tact. "I always win."

Damon started towards him , but he suddenly vanished into thin air.
