Most 14 year old girls don't give much thought to how they are going to die, but of course Cordelia Lupin-Black was not a normal 14 year old girl. I mean she was best friends with Harry Freaking Potter, her dad was accused of murder for 12 years and her Pa was a werewolf, so it was safe to say that Cordelia had thought about her death a little, but whatever she had imagined in her mind was nothing like this.

Cordelia awoke to shouting coming from the boys tent and she groggily grabbed her wand and hurried out of her tent with Ginny and Hermione hot on her heels.

Outside people were running around in a panic. A crowd of wizards stood in a group, their faces were covered in masks and hoods. Floating above them were four struggling people. It was the campsite manager and his family.

The youngest child looked at most five years old. Cordelia almost threw up. Cordelia heard Ron come up behind her. Mr. Weasley shouted at all of them to run and to get away while he, Bill, Charlie and Percy went to go help the Ministry.

Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Cori ran. They ran and ran, none of them stopped running until they heard a grunt of pain behind them, it was coming from Ron.

"What happened?" Hermione asked frantically as she lit her wand, pointing it at where Ron's pained cry had come from. Ron was lying on the ground.

"Tripped over a tree root," He groaned as he pulled himself up to his feet.

"Well, with feet that size, it's hard not to," Sneered a voice from behind them.

The group turned sharply and in their haste to look didn't notice as Cordelia turned sharply at the sound of a scream that sounded very much like Ginny and disappeared into the trees.

Cordelia heard Ginny scream again and she started to run even faster. Coming to a halt at the edge of an open clearing, Cordelia saw Ginny, Fred and George surrounded by the people in masks. Fred and George were doing their best to shield Ginny from the advancing enemies but there were only two of them and they were completely surrounded.

Cordelia threw herself out of the shadow of the trees, the men and women in masks turned to look at her.

"Cordelia!" She heard George yell. "What are you doing! Get out of here!" But Cordelia couldn't have moved even if she had wanted to.

The group in masks were slowly advancing on her, wands drawn and even as Cordelia reached for her own wand she knew that she was going to be too slow.

She heard the yell before she saw the spell and before she could even blink, three red stunning spells were being shot at her. She felt a searing pain in her chest, then the world went black.

Cordelia felt like her head was exploding as she blinked her eyes open to the unwelcome brightness of day. Looking around at her surroundings she realized that she was back at the Burrow. George was sitting next to the couch she was lying on looking as if he hadn't slept in days and gripping her hand as if he were afraid that if he let go she might fade away, like a dream. Cordelia coughed and George dropped her hand, whipping his head up to look at her.

"You're awake! What were you thinking? That was such a stupind thing to do." He said

Cordelia shrugged. "I wasn't thinking, I was just trying to keep you safe."

George shook his head. "It was still a stupid thing to do," he said but he cracked a small grin. "I'll be right back, everyone will want to know you're up. Your dads have been frantic."

The moment that George left, Cordelia tried to pull herself into a better position, attempting to look better than she felt. She had just managed to get herself into a sitting position when Remus and Sirius walked through the door. It was Remus who spoke first.

"Hey, Cub. How're you feeling?" he asked softly, sitting slowly down next to her.

"Like I just got run over by a mountain troll." Cordelia said, laughing softly. "How long have I been out?"

"Two days." Said Sirius. "It was terrifying, we got an owl from Molly saying that the World Cup had been attacked and by the time we had got here, George was running through the front door carrying you in his arms. You were completely unconscious, it was absolutely terrifying. What were you thinking? Jumping into a fight like that."

"I was trying to protect my friends. I was trying to keep everyone safe." Cori said. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare any of you."

"We're not mad at you Cub, we were just really worried about you." Said Remus.

At that moment, Molly came bustling into the room carrying a pain potion and everyone fell into easy conversation.

The rest of the summer flew by in a blur and a few weeks later the kids were packing to leave for school. Cordelia was walking past Ron's room when she heard a loud noise of disgust from inside.

"What is that supposed to be?" Ron said as Cordelia walked into the room. He was holding up something that looked like a long, maroon velvet dress.

"Whatever it is," Cordelia said. "It is absolutely horrid."

There was a knock on the door, and Mrs. Weasley entered, carrying an armful of freshly laundered Hogwarts robes.

"Here you are," she said, sorting them into two piles for the boys. "Now, mind you pack them properly so they don't crease."

"Mum, you've given me Ginny's new dress," said Ron, handing it out to her.

"Of course I haven't," said Mrs. Weasley. "That's for you. Dress robes."

Cordelia snickered.

"What?" said Ron, looking absolutely mortified.

"Dress robes!" repeated Mrs. Weasley. "It says on your school list that you're supposed to have dress robes this year . . . robes for formal occasions."

"You've got to be kidding," said Ron in disbelief. "I'm not wearing that, no way."

"Everyone wears them, Ron!" said Mrs. Weasley crossly. "They're all like that! Your father's got some for smart parties!"

"I'll go starkers before I put that on," said Ron stubbornly.

"Don't be so silly," said Mrs. Weasley. "You've got to have dress robes, they're on your list! Cordelia's got some and I got some for Harry too . . . show him, Harry. . . ."

Cordelia watched closely as Harry opened the package slowly and sighed in relief when he pulled out bottle green robes that look similar to the ones that they had to wear for school.

"I thought they'd bring out the color of your eyes, dear," said Mrs. Weasley fondly.

"Well, they're okay!" said Ron angrily, looking at Harry's robes. "Why couldn't I have some like that?"

"Because . . . well, I had to get yours secondhand, and there wasn't a lot of choice!" said Mrs. Weasley, flushing. Harry and Cordelia shared a look.

"I'm never wearing them," Ron was saying stubbornly. "Never."

"Fine," snapped Mrs. Weasley. "Go naked. And, Harry, Cordelia, make sure you get a picture of him. Goodness knows I could do with a laugh." She left the room, slamming the door behind her.

"Why is everything I own rubbish?" said Ron furiously, and Cordelia quickly left the room, she didn't want to deal with Ron's temper anymore. Besides, she had to pack, they were leaving for school tomorrow.
