Shackles

Shackles of wonder hold me prisoner in my land of lost mindsets
Chains of curiosity ring my neck
In a choke hold of suspense
It claimed me

Set me free

My cell, a barricade of doubt
Strengthened by my cowardice
Tighten the chains like a warm loving hug of defeat

Set me free

My hard bed of insecurities
With my satin blanket of sorrow
Do little to protect me from the torment that hit me

Set me free

But the warden has always been me
The keys to my cell has always been within my reach
But it's me

I am free

An axe of courage broke my Shackles
As hope drenched my doubts clean
My happiness is my prison break
My cell is now a forbidden grave I shall not dig again

I am free
