The man pulled his ringing mobile from its pocket, taking a glance at the number before accepting the call and pressing it to his ear.

'Speak.' Was his way of greeting.

'We know where she's going,' said the woman on the other end of the line. In the background he could hear torturous cries.

'Are you going to tell me where?'

'Moonlight Ridge pack. She leaves first thing in the morning.' The cries in the background continued. 'I thought your witch was going to fix the side effects of the perfume! Our skin is covered in blisters and burns, not to mention it didn't work! They were onto Joey before he'd even got into the woods!'

'Evanora created the new formula days ago. The perfume you were given was her first trial. We just had to make sure you'd come through first. The final sample will be sent to you at first light.' The man hung up the phone and turned to the leader, who sat with a leg resting across the other, a wicked glint in his eye. The other was covered by an eye patch. 'Did you get all of that?'

The leader gave a cynical grin. 'Every last word.'

Roxy stared out at the plane through the large glass windows of the airport terminal, her heart aching and her stomach in a ball of anxious knots. Mountainous Region. It was a four hour flight from Coastal Region but it might as well have been a thousand light years. She wrapped her arms around herself and watched the airport staff buzz around in vehicles on the tarmac below. This was the first time she'd been away from home – the first time she'd been away from her sister. And she didn't know when she'd be back.

'When things are safe.'

That's what Trent had said. But how long could that be? It'd taken them two years just to come to the conclusion that the rogues were after one of the pack members. How much longer would it be until they figured out who, or why?

To try and ease her nerves, Roxy had researched Moonlight Ridge pack, only to find barely anything at all. It turned out they were a secretive pack, which she found strange for one that would surely teem with history. Alpha Winters was the only one who knew the truth behind her arrival. It wasn't unusual for wolves to move packs, either to join their soulmates or for strategic reasons. It unnerved her that he knew more about her than she could gather of his entire pack.

Roxy turned to look around the terminal of the airport. Humans sat in the uncomfortable seats, most of them with their eyes locked onto mobile devices in their hands. She could hear the different types of music playing through their headphones, which the people around them wouldn't be able to. The PA system constantly announced departing flights heading to the cities humans named, followed by people running frantically with their luggage. Since their ancestors, werewolves knew locations by packs and regions. Of course they had to learn most human geography as not to raise any suspicion while living amongst them. Although most humans assumed from the matching tattoos and large homes they lived in, they were part of a strange cultish religion. Oh the laboratory testing and slaughtering that would ensue if they ever discovered the mythical creatures living under their noses.
