Clarke's POV
I laid in the bunk that was assigned to me filling in the parts of the map I had been given. I thought it was strange that they left out some parts on the welcome pamphlet. Obviously, they were hiding something. Something they didn't want us to go looking for. While the others had pillow fights and listened to old music, I was determined to find a way out of here. I had to find the rest of us, I had to know if the others where okay.
"Its not bad." Jasper said as he walked over and saw what I was doing. "Maybe they'll, uh, hang it on the walls here one day."
"Miller." Someone called out before I could respond.
We all looked up to see Miller limping into the room followed by Maya who looked at me nervously.
"Look who finally got released." Jasper teased.
"Hey." He said once he noticed me.
"Miller." I said as I quickly jumped down from my top bunk and stood in front of him.
"I'm glad you're okay." I told him.
"Yeah." He replied. "It only took, what, three surgeries?" He asked Maya causing her to chuckle softly.
"I hear you're fitting right in." Miller said to me.
I looked over to Maya who made eye contact with me before quickly looking away. It was clear she was the one telling Miller about me. She was the only one who had been in contact with him until this moment.
"Twice a day. Don't forget. He'll be okay in a few days." She said as she handed him some pills.
"Thanks." He said to her as he took it from her.
"Maya. Top op of the morning is a..." Jasper started to say before trailing off in almost instant regret. "It's a very dumb thing to say that I saw in an old movie once." He told her as the two of them slowly started to walk away from me.
I watched the two of them walk away and it was clear that they liked each other. I did not know how to feel about that. If I should be happy Jasper found someone who could be special to him. Or protective of him because I did not trust a single one of these people. Before I could think to much about it an alarm started wailing through out the bunker.
I looked over to Maya and saw that she was trying to hurry off. She obviously knew what the alarm was about.
"Hey. What's going on?" I asked her as I blocked her way.
"A surface patrol is back, and someone needs medical attention." She answered as she tried to hurry around me.
"I have to go to quarantine." She told me as she rushed around me.
I tried to follow her, but Jasper grabbed my arm.
"Hey, Clarke. What are you doing?" He asked me.
"Maybe they found survivors." I answered him. If our people are hurt, we have a right to know."
"Pretty sure we shouldn't go wandering around." He replied.
He tried to stop me again but this time I ran by him and down the hall Maya had disappeared down as Jasper chased after me.
"What are we dealing with?" I heard Maya ask someone I did not know.
"They were attacked. One dead in Room 2." The person answered her. "The other took off his gloves and mask to treat him. He's in Decon."
"He'll need treatment soon." Maya said.
"Who attacked them?" I asked as I ran over to the small group of doctors who were pulling on their hazmat suits in such a rush that they did not notice me until now.
"What are they doing here?" One of the men asked Maya as if she brought us here.
I didn't give her time to respond I ran past them and towards the door.
"Stop its not safe." A lady called out to me.
"It is for us." I called back. "Let's go Jasper." I told him.
Him and Maya made eye contact. I could see him questioning it for a moment before he decided to follow me.
"Someone's gotta keep her out of trouble." He told Maya before following me.
I ran through the white halls that where lined with paintings not entirely sure where I was going but hoping I would get there before security caught up to us.
"Clarke, slow down." Jasper yelled as he chased after me. "Stop pushing so hard. These people are" He was saying but stopped when we found the room with the dead man in it.
He was lying on a slab in a body bag but the bag was clear so I could see through it. I ran over and looked at the wound through the bag. I knew it there was more of us out there. The wound was clearly a bullet wound. Grounders don't use guns it can only be caused by one of us.
"Are lying to us." I told him. "That's a bullet wound. Grounders don't use guns." I told him as I showed him the wound.
"Unless the Grounders got the guns from us." He said trying to stick up for his girlfriend.
"I don't think so." I responded. "I think our people are alive out there."
"Get them out of here." A voice said from behind us.
We turned around to see Tsing standing behind us. I really did not like this woman. Three others walked in dragging in the second guy who was covered in burns and could barley stand with help. Before I could even ask any more questions more people came in and escorted the two of us out.
