The rain beat down relentlessly. It was dark, and the storm was not sparing anyone.Fortunately, Jungkook had given me his umbrella before leaving.

That day was the 27th of November. And it was the anniversary of our meeting.I went out early to the city, leaving him and Yeontan at home.I really wanted to give him something for the occasion, and I didn't intend to miss it. The shopI wanted to go to was not far from our house.Maybe a thirty minute walk if I was quick. It wasn't very big, but I really liked it.They always had nice items in stock.

As I pushed open the front door of the shop, a ringing sound echoed in the room.Without waiting, I walked over to the first saleswoman I saw and called out to her.

"Hello! What can I do to help you? "

I hesitated for a moment. Would he really like it? He always says he gets cold when we go out. And he likes the color.

"'Yes, the scarf in the window, the burgundy one. Do you still have it? "

"Wait a minute, I'll go and see right away. "

Without waiting, she walked over to the till where a computer sat and, after typing a few words on the keyboard, she turned to me and cheerfully announced that there was still stock.I sighed with relief.I'd been worried that it wouldn't sell anymore, ever since I'd seen it in that window as I walked past the shop.

"Perfect! Can I have it? "

"Sure, I'll bring him right back. "

While the saleswoman went to the storeroom to get me a copy of the item, I went to the cashier and took my wallet out of my bag.I had just received my salary from my part-time job, and I was really proud to finally be able to give Jungkook a present.

Two minutes later, the young woman came back with the scarf in her hands. After paying, she handed me the fabric, which she had carefully placed in a paper bag.

"Is it for a present? A boyfriend perhaps? "

"Yes, it is. A present. " I replied with a smile, an image of Jungkook, with a smile on his face, coming to mind.

She in turn gave me a knowing smile, and after wishing me a good evening, I walked out the door, the sound of the bell disappearing as I walked away from the shop.Outside, it was still raining. But at least I had found what I was looking for.And I was happy about that. Now I just had to go home.

On the way, I kept thinking about what the saleswoman had told me.My boyfriend. If she knew what he was, too. Jungkook wasn't just my boyfriend. He was my fiancé, and soon my husband. He was my everything. He was a part of me, a whole person in my life, the one person, the one man who had managed to fill the void that had resided in me for so long, and I just couldn't see myself living without him, without his warmth, without his voice. He was all I needed.

After walking for a good half hour, I finally returned to our house.I quickly took off my shoes and coat and put them in the hallway in their usual place.I went discreetly into the living room to hide my present in the cupboard on which theI didn't want to give it to her right away:I would wait for the right moment in the evening, to surprise her. Probably after dinner.
Once my task was done, I was waiting for one thing: to find the love of my life. When I opened the door to our room, Jungkook was half asleep, slumped on the bed, wearing only navy blue jogging shorts.Yeontan was there too, lying on my man's stomach. I put my bag on the chair to the left of the bed, then slowly approached the bed. Jungkook must have heard me,but he didn't open his eyes. He probably wanted the same thing I did. Without saying anything, he turned to the side and held out his arms to invite me in, which I did without further ado.I curled up in his arms, cradling my head against his warm chest, and closed my eyes in turn. His sweet almond scent quickly invaded my nostrils, and I couldn't help but sigh with relief. I would have given anything to spend my days like this, in his arms, breathing in his smell and enjoying his warmth to recover from the cold outside.

Still drowsy, he kissed me on the forehead and held me tighter to him, as if going back to sleep. He sighed in turn, then his breathing resumed a slow, steady rhythm, as did the beating of his heart against his chest.Steady, gentle, relentless. Hearing that sound was the most magical thing about those moments for me.It was something indescribable, incredibly comforting, like a lullaby a mother would sing to her child to put him to sleep and chase away all the nightmares of this world. Here, in Jungkook's arms, in the heart of our home, I was safe, and I was certain that nothing could ever disturb the happiness that fate had given me.

"Hi, my darling. "I said in a whisper.

"Hi," he replied in his sleepy voice.

I pressed myself against him as hard as I could, and once again he tightened his embrace around me.We hadn't had dinner yet, and I had my present for him.But at that moment, I wanted more than anything to put it off until tomorrow and fall asleep here, in his arms, his heart close to mine.

I could feel Yeontan gently coming to nestle between Jungkook and me, just in the tiny, unique space between our two bodies. I gently put my hand on his fur and stroked him slowly.

"I'm going to drown that dog. "

" - Don't even think about it, Kook. "

We were immersed in a soothing silence, in each other's arms, eyes closed, just enjoying this moment of pure happiness. We only spoke in whispers, wanting to do everything we could to preserve this moment.Only the little laughs that escaped from our throats disturbed the atmosphere in the house. My thoughts drifted back to the small package hidden in the living room dresser.I hoped with all my heart that he would like my present.
