Chapter 6

LUZ POV

I woke up to the sound of a loud beep. As I realized it was now Monday I had school today and I also had basketball tryouts today. I got up and went straight to my closet to pull out a hoodie. After I got dressed and brushed my teeth and hair I headed downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast when I noticed there was a stack of pancakes with a note from my mom telling me that she wishes me luck for the tryouts. After I ate the great pancakes I heard the bus.  After I arrived at school I walked through the doors and headed straight to Amity's locker. As I walked to Amity's locker I saw that she was talking to someone who I couldn't completely make out who it was. When I got closer I saw a new kid that I have never seen before.

"Hey Amity." I said from behind her

"Oh hi Luz." Amity said

"Who is this?" I questioned pointing to the new kid

"This is Mia she is new this year." Amity said finally facing me 

"Oh" I said

"Hi Mia I am Luz." I said greeting Mia kindly 

"Hi Luz." Mia said with a smile 

After we talked for a while the bell finally rang and we went are separate ways. After five really boring classes it was finally lunch where I met up with Amity. 

"Hi Amity" I said popping up from behind her 

" Hey Lu." She said as I sat down beside her

"Are you excited for basketball tryouts." Amity asked as I took out some jello

"Meh." I answered 

After Lunch I had to sit through 3 more boring classes it finally came time for the tryouts.

Amity POV

As arrived to the gym after school I noticed Luz wasn't there. So I waited five minutes and still no sign of Luz. I got worried so I texted Luz. After what felt like forever I finally got a response. She said come in the bathroom. After I saw that text I ran to the bathroom. When I got in there I saw Luz looking at her self in the bathroom.

"Lu why aren't you out there yet tryouts start in ten minutes." 

"Ya I know." Luz said still looking at herself in the mirror 

"Lu what's wrong?" I asked 

" What if I don't make the team like the last 2 years." Luz questioned breaking her gaze from the mirror

"Luz your going to make the team." I said walking towards her 

"How do you know?" She said looking at me 

"Luz I know because every time that you failed you pushed yourself harder and harder to be a great team player." I said placing my hand on Luz's cheek 

"Thanks Amity, but I have failed multiple times so why would I have a chance now? Anyways I shouldn't even tryout." Luz said pulling away from my hand

"Luz you are going to do great c'mon don't me scared." I said 

Luz looked at me and just completely lost it. 

"Me scared no. I mean yeah my confidence has completely went out the-" She rambled as I pulled her into a sweet short kiss 

As we seperated I asked Luz 

"So now are you going to go out there and try your best."

"Yeah, but can you stay and watch for support." Luz asked 

"Sure." I answered after that Luz ran out the bathroom with some confidence.
