chapter 6

"So Mandy how is it like knowing that you're out here saving lives," Tucker asked Miranda as they headed to the hotel.

"Oh, Tucker I absolutely love it truth be told I might be a little addicted," Miranda replied smiling.

"A little ?" Ben retorted out making Miranda to turn around smiling at her best friend who knew her so well.  "Okay okay Benjamin a lot a bit," Miranda said smiling as she bit her lip. "Exactly what I thought Miranda, but you have all the right to be addicted and excited about it because it's one of the many gifts God has blessed you with. You are an Extraordinary surgeon, Miranda you are a woman of many Talents on a mission and I'm one lucky bastard that gets to be a part of it all." Ben said smirking as he winked at her making her breath hitch a little as her face turned red from her blush overload.

Miranda quickly turned back in her seat little embarrassed about the effect her best friend just caused. When Ben winked at her Miranda began to feel her body warm-up, and butterflies form in the pit of her stomach why did he have such an effect on her like this? He has always seemed to make her smile, blush like a red balloon, but here lately he always seems to cause her body to warm up and cause her to blush uncontrollably no matter how hard she tried to stop it from happening it always seemed to happen.

Tucker looked down at Miranda and saw how flustered her Best Friend just made her by smiling and winking at her. Tucker looked into the rear mirror connecting eyes with Ben watching his mouth crack into a small smirk causing him to clench his jaw and clear his throat and focus back on the road.

Arriving at their hotel Ben hopped out of the car and grabbed Miranda and his suite cases. "Let me get the door for you Mandy," Tucker said unbuckling his seat belt to get out.

"I GOT IT," Ben said as he shut the trunk.
" Yeah no, Tucker you're fine Ben's got it. Miranda told Tucker blushing putting a strand of loose hair behind her ear as she unbuckled her seat belt to get out.

Ben opened the door smiling at Miranda "Are you ready Beautiful", Ben said extending his hand for her to grab Miranda blush and nodded and return his smile grabbing his hand.  Miranda began to get out of the car until she felt something stop her from moving she looked back to see that it was Tucker holding onto her arm.

"Mandy"
"Yes?" Miranda said connecting her eyes with Tucker.
"Can we ... Can we talk for a minute?" Tucker asked moving his eyes from her to Ben and back to her.
"Sure of course what's up," Miranda said moving all the way back into the car facing Tucker never letting go of Ben's hand.
Tucker watched how Miranda never let go of Ben's hand in fact he watches her tangle her fingers and pull him with her as she slid back into the car Tucker knew it was more to them than just being each other's Best friend. "Um Mandy can we talk alone," Tucker said looking at Miranda until his gaze switch to Ben who was already looking at him. His jaw was clenched and he didn't look too amused at the fact that Tucker just asked to speak with her alone he knew Miranda wasn't his but the thought of her in this car blushing and giggling at him set a fire in him.

"Umm yeah sure," Miranda said looking at Ben with soft eyes hoping he wasn't mad at her " uh Ben how bout you check us in and get settled in, and once I'm done here we can watch movies until we pass out," Miranda said giving Ben a weak smile.

"Are you sure Miranda I don't like that I'm leaving you alone I can wa..."

"No Benjamin I will be fine I promise just make sure to make a lot of popcorn and find me a good sci-fi movie okay. Miranda said with a twinkle in her eye as she smiled big bringing their entwined hands to her chest making Ben crack and give in.

Ben released and big sigh and brought her hand to his lips kissing it. "Fine but if you need me call me Okay!" Ben told Miranda raising an eyebrow. "Okay," Miranda said rolling her eyes while smiling.

"See you inside beautiful don't take too long," Ben said whispering the last part into her ear making her Shutter from how it sounded. Ben kissed her cheek closing her door back and walking inside with his and Miranda's suitcases checking them in and getting settled in their room.

Miranda watched Ben until he was out of her sight she let go of a small breath she didn't know she was holding in. She Turned in her seat facing Tucker fully she noticed that his face held an expression of annoyance and she wonder if it was because of Ben and her interactions scratch that she knew that was the reason for his annoyance. She didn't seem to understand why though since he and she have been broken up for some years now.

"So"

"So?"

"Tucker what did you want to talk with me alone about because I am pretty tired from the flight and I want to get some rest before I call my folks and can't get none,"  Miranda said as she looked at her watch checking the time wondering how much sleep she can get before she has to call her parents.

Tucker inhaled and licked his lips grabbing her hand kissing it pulling Miranda out of her thoughts.  "Mandy I know I hurt you back then  I was immature back then I didn't understand what I had until you were gone running into you today could be God giving us a second chance at us again. What do you say girl you want to be my baby again. Tucker said giving her a charming smirk she used to love when they were together it always seemed to make her weak in the knees.

Miranda inhaled and ran her tongue against the roof her mouth rolling her eyes as her mouth stretched out into a small grin. "Uhh, I won't sit here and lie and say that seeing you today didn't bring up any feelings about us, but Tucker I'm just not in the place for a relationship I'm really trying to focus on my career I Still have the same goals I had back then if not more that will never change so even if I was at the place in my life to date how would I know that this time it would be different Tucker you dumped me because you told me you didn't you could marry a surgeon what has changed now Tucker," Miranda said removing her hand from Tucker's.

"I have a baby girl I promise I've changed Mandy these years without you have left me empty come back to me," Tucker said grabbing her hands again bring them to lips.

"Tucker ...... I" Miranda said trying to speak but honestly was speechless. She was going to lie that seeing Tucker brought back some unresolved feelings, but she just didn't know what to do especially with these unexplainable feelings she has been feeling for her best friend which honestly scared her.

"So what do you say baby girl you wanna give us another go?" Tucker said bringing his hand to her face tucking a loose piece of hair behind her ear. Miranda blushed and looked into his eyes.

"I...I..." Miranda began to stutter.
