Mini Side Story: Jungkook's Wealth

When it comes to Jungkook's wealth, it has always been a mystery to Lalisa.

First of all, he's a criminal investigator. Even if he's one of the elites in the whole province and is an expert for the youths in the Ministry of Security, his monthly pay is no more than a couple of thousands. Performing well definitely doesn't give him any extra bonuses either. At most he would get a silk banner.

What's the use of a silk banner? It can't be eaten or drunken. For someone who's about to become Mrs. Jeon, Lalisa expresses her worry about having an income of less than five thousand.

But even with this income, Jungkook drives a Land Rover and the cigarettes he used to smoke are of the Suyan brand. Although he lives in a two-bedroom apartment, it's in the most expensive area of the entire city. Therefore, Lalisa often wonders where exactly does his money come from?

The answer is actually quite obvious.

Since he has no side jobs and he's still young so he can't possibly have a lot of savings. Young Master Jeon, who's from a wealthy family, is obviously spending his parents' and family's money.

Although this is surprising to Lalisa, it's not hard to understand. Even though Jungkook is an incredible criminal investigator, he was once a thriftless young master. Among their circle of friends, Monkey, Yoongi, and the others all probably live this way.

Furthermore, despite he doesn't make a lot of money, he saves many lives; it's incomparable no matter how much money you have. Therefore, Lalisa's conclusion is: although Young Master Jeon is spending his family's money, he's entitled to it! Who says that men can't inherit their family's wealth? If they don't share the wealth with him, the only son, who else could they share it with?

And thus, Lalisa throws the thought to the back of her mind. It's just that sometimes Jungkook buys her things like clothes, jewelry, electronics...... he doesn't feel any pain from his wallet; he swipes his credit card without frowning an eyebrow. Lalisa, on the other hand, feels the pain and tries to stop him, "Wait! I don't need it! I don't think......I really like this anyway."

A woman's change of heart makes Jungkook frown his eyebrows slightly. But what can he do if she doesn't like it? In the end, he gives her a supplementary card, "Buy whatever you want to buy yourself."

Lalisa holds the card in her hands with tears flowing in her heart: F-k! You're throwing a credit card at her?! The one she married is supposed to be a passionate super detective and not a cool, handsome, and imposing CEO! Regardless of how wealthy the Jeon Family is, it won't be enough for him to waste!

Therefore, in the next couple of days, Jungkook can't help feeling like Lalisa is looking at him weirdly. There seems to be a bit of resentment for something that's not meeting his expectations and there seems to be a worry. He tries asking her but she always laughs it away and won't tell him (Lalisa is afraid of hurting Jungkook's dignity as a man).

Until one day—

Lalisa is at home while Jungkook is working at the station. He calls her suddenly and tells her an account number saying, "This is Monkey's account number. Dad saw an inkstone that he really liked but doesn't have the money to buy it. Monkey told me about it. Can you transfer some money over to Monkey? He will buy the inkstone for my dad." Lalisa replies, "Oh, okay." Just when she is about to hang up, she realizes something,

"Wait!"

"What is it?"

Lalisa says with a bit of disbelief, "Why would your dad not have money?"

She braces herself as if she's about to go up against her strongest opponent-could it be that Jungkook has really spent away all of Jeon Family's money? Oh shit!

Jungkook, on the other end, remains quiet for a moment and then laughs answering, "Although my dad is in a high position and doesn't need to worry about money and my family's financial situation is not bad, with my dad not being greedy and not accepting bribery, his income at most is enough for the family to be well-off. For an inkstone that's about a couple hundred thousands of dollars, it's not that easy for him to shell out so much money and he won't be willing to."

Lalisa's jaws drop, "Hah! Then where does...... your money come from?" Jungkook keeps quiet for a second and then says slowly:

"Did you always think that I've been eating off of someone else?"

Of course, Jungkook doesn't. A man's arrogance can be seen based on how he treats his women, his work, as well as his attitude toward money.

In Young Master Jeon's heart, if a twenty-something-year-old man only knows how to spend his family's money, he's just a good-for-nothing brat.

So where does his money, his car, and his brand name cigarettes come from then?

"Stocks," he answers.

After Jungkook comes home tonight, he tosses her his account details which contains all of his money. Lalisa is a bit excited as she's about to take a peek at her own man's fortune.

She logs onto the online banking website and her eyes open wide.

Although he's not wealthy to the point of being a rich man, it's enough for him to spend for the rest of his life.

Lalisa is a bit shocked yet understands at the same time, "Could it be that those who are good at math will also do well in investing in stocks?"

Jungkook embraces her and says indifferently, "When I was in high school, the stock market was doing really well, so I made quite a bit. And then when I was in university, I used my relative's accounts and made double. I don't do it anymore since I've made enough. My regular spending isn't that much, so if you want to buy anything, just decide on your own."

Lalisa wraps her arms around him, "Hubby, you actually have this much money! I'm truly a blind cat who bumped into a mouse!" (idiom, being lucky)

What kind of metaphor is this......

Jungkook remains quiet for a moment before laughing, "You think this is a lot of money?" He glances at her, "The Jeon Family has a long history. Although we're not super wealthy we have quite a number of calligraphy paintings, jewels, and other things. We own a few courtyard houses in Beijing (type of Chinese residence) and they will be given to me in the future. Compared to these, the money in the account isn't really much."

Lalisa blurts out, "Oh f-k!! What other properties do you have then? You better tell me all of them now!"

Jungkook takes a look at her, keeps quiet for a second and answers, "There's one more, which is the most expensive property." Lalisa opens her eyes wide. "What is it, what is it?" It's not that she covets for riches. She's simply curious and wants to broaden her view, "Is it like a 4.6 billion-year-old emerald or a calligraphy painting by Wang Xizhi?"

Jungkook doesn't answer. He falls back onto the bed and closes his eyes. Lalisa won't let him off so easily. She crawls up on his chest and entangles him, "What treasure is it? Just let me see!"

Jungkook lowers his eyes to looks at her. "What do you think? What other treasure do I have that has made me spend so much time chasing her? What could it be that almost cost me my life in getting her?"
