"Marlie, I swear if you don't stop rushing me I'm going to hop right back into bed." I grumbled aloud after hearing her call out the time again.

I was sitting at my vanity trying to apply what little makeup I cared to wear these days, while she paced around my room anxiously. I'm not sure if it was the fact that Zane would be here in the next few minutes that was making her so antsy or if I was actually taking too long to get ready.

Either way, rushing me was not an answer. Because I'll just stay home.

"Sorry it's just Zane will be here in a few minutes and I was really hoping that we could all carpool. With you and Luna there it'll kind of take the edge off, you know?" She rushed out while spraying deodorant under her arms... for the third time.

I stood up grabbing the can from her as I was already running low and needed to stop her from
nervously using the rest of it.

And I needed to spray some on myself.

"Marlie calm down. You've hung out plenty of times together. What makes this so different?" I asked after spraying myself, and sitting back at my vanity applying mascara.

"Well this is the first time he'll be around all of my friends. And this will be our first time at a party together. A college party at that and...I don't know." She plopped down on my bed, breathing out in frustration.

I watched her through the mirror while simultaneously continuing my task of getting ready. Despite how funny it was to watch her dramatic expressions, I didn't want her to be so anxious.

"Marlie. You're putting way too much unnecessary pressure on tonight. Just focus on having a good time with the person you're interested in. I mean, you guys already know how you feel about each other so that instantly eliminates some of the pressure and awkwardness." I said trying to ease some of her worries.

She sat up, and thoughtfully looked at me through the mirror. "You're absolutely right!" She exclaimed after a moment.

A smile instantly spread across my face.

"Music to my ears" I replied. Those words always satisfied something deep inside of me.

She rolled her eyes and threw a pillow at me. I laughed loudly as I caught it just in time and stuck my tongue out at her.

"Seriously though," she continued, sitting back in the bed "I'm just going to enjoy the night. And when is Luna getting here?" She asked while tossing the pillow in the air and failing to catch it.

Pathetic.

I was finally done in the mirror and stood up grabbing the dress I was going to wear tonight. It was a piece I'd stumbled across when in a boutique that usually never has anything cute and in my size. It's always either it's cute

OR it's in my size.

Never both.

So imagine my surprise when I'm just hopelessly going through collections and my fingers run across a soft and beautiful peach colored fabric. In awe of the detail in the satin fabric alone, I eagerly picked it up to take in the bodice of the dress. As soon as I saw it I knew that I had to have it and luckily enough, it was in my size. That was all I needed to know to quicken my pace to the check out line.

"Oh yea I forgot to tell you." I replied to Marlie while simultaneously running an iron over the dress to smooth out any pronounced wrinkles.

"She isn't coming." I finished simply.

"What? I thought she was supposed to be your date so you won't be a thirdie?" She questioned disappointedly.

I laughed at her infatuation of the word "thirdie". It's so cute and she uses it so enthusiastically, that I just never want to say anything about it.
