A/N: Hi dear readers!! This is a short story I've been working on for some while, hence I'm sorry if the language is too cheesy! It will have approximately 3-4 chapters. Since it isn't too long I decided to add it to this book! Hopefully you enjoy it :) Each chapter will have a word that is unique to a language and cannot be translated directly with a small number of words.

Komorebi 「木 日」

Language: Japanese

Meaning: The interplay between light and leaves when sunlight shines through trees.

JULIANA'S POV

Rays of sunlight filtering through the leaves of the trees above. My eyes are transfixed on the beautiful sight. I can't avert my gaze, nor do I want to. The sunlight is gently caressing my skin.

I hear my name being called.

"Juliana."

It's quietly spoken, soft and sleepy. My eyes search for the owner of the angelic voice and land on a girl lying next to me, her head resting peacefully on my lap. Her eyes are closed, she's sound asleep. I stroke her strawberry blond hair and the silky feel of it is enough to make my head go dizzy.

I close my eyes and concentrate on the voices. The steady breathing of the girl, the chirping of the birds. The unique melody the wind sings, as if it's ours and only ours. I feel like this is the one and only moment I will hear it. This moment I'm in, it will never come again. I will never feel the dancing wind on my skin. The only time this sunlight falls on our skins and warms our hearts, it's now. The beautiful tune the birds are chanting, it's nonpareil. The calming breaths of the girl, the rise and fall of her chest, the peaceful look on her face, I will cherish it all.

I wanted to cherish it all. But suddenly it wasn't warm anymore. Before I knew it, the grass, the bench were gone, along with the trees, as if someone took a hold of their barks and pulled them away. Strawberry blond strands, wings of nightingales, beams of sunlight were swaying and swaying, as if waving me farewell. They were leaving. Slowly, softly, leaving.

The lack of warmth was tearing my consciousness from the land of dreams and bringing me back to reality. I wanted to believe it wasn't a dream, that I could feel that peaceful in real life. But once I was awake, everything slowly vanished. First the softness of her hair, then the warm breeze on our skins and then the sunlight. I tried to hold onto her voice, but I already forgot how it sounded.

Someone was shaking my body, as I pleaded for another minute in my paradise.

I slowly opened my eyes to see that my blanket was no longer covering me, instead it was on the floor, next to a pair of feet clad in white Converses. After giving my blanket a longing gaze, I looked up to see the person who had dared to interrupt my sleep.

I wasn't surprised to see Ethan with a proud smirk on his face. I grunted something inconceivable before turning around and snuggling into my pillow.

"Jules." He groaned playfully. He tried to take my pillow away from me, but I had a death-grip on it.

"Come on! It's 3 p.m."

Wow that's a record. Sighing I slowly opened my eyes. It wasn't like I could get back to my dream. I wish.

After shifting into a sitting position and rubbing my eyes, I spoke groggily. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Today's Gabe's birthday. We have to do the shopping for the party. Ring any bells?"
