Marlee ran over to Seraphina who was laying on the ground with a broken wing and a letter in her beak. She shoved the letter in her pants and instantly Apparated to the Owlery in Diagon Alley. She knew they had Healers who worked with owls there and she wanted to get away from the Burrow anyway.
She walked in and told them her situation. A witch took Seraphina to get healed and told Marlee it wouldn't be too long of a wait but she actually was hoping that it would be a long wait. She couldn't face everyone that soon. She needed time to think.
Marlee tugged at her damp clothing (since she had just thrown on a shirt and shorts over her wet swimsuit) and casted a drying spell on herself. Then, she remembered the letter in her pants and frantically ripped it open. The letter was from her father:
Marleekins,
I don't want to rush your stay with George but I wanted to let you know that Grandma is not doing well. She had a heart attack last week and her health has been plummeting since. She's currently at St. Mungos and I've been staying at the hospital for the past few days. I'm not saying you have to come home but the Healers don't know how much longer she will be alive for, so it is up to you. I hope you're having fun with the Weasley's. Please tell George I say hello.
Love,
DadMarlee only grew up with one grandma so she had quite a strong relationship with her. She didn't have to think twice before deciding to stop at St. Mungos. Plus, that would give her more time before she had to return to the Burrow.
The witch came back out with Seraphina, now good as new and she thanked her, bought some food for Seraphina then sent her back home to Cho. She wasn't in too much of a rush but she also didn't want it to be too late.
She Apparated to St. Mungo's and luckily it wasn't too busy so she walked right up to the front desk. "Hi, could you please tell me what room Eleanor Cho Chang is staying in? I am her granddaughter."
The witch stared at Marlee through her glasses and flipped through a couple of papers before sighing, "Room 318 should be it." Marlee thanked her and speed-walked to the room, following the signs.
She knocked before going in and heard Eleanor say, "Come in." Right as she opened the door she ran to the bed where her grandmother was laying and gave her a big hug.
"Mar? What are you doing here?" Eleanor wondered. "I thought you were spending time with George."
"I had to come see you, Grandmum. How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine, Marlee. I'm old, I've seen everything already. I'm not worried about this and I don't want you to worry either."
Marlee's eyes began to water but she wasn't sure if it was because of what happened at the Burrow or because of her grandmother—perhaps both. "I am worried. How can I not be?" Marlee spoke through tears as her voice broke with each word.
Eleanor frowned. "Marleekins? What's going on? What are you actually doing here?"
But Marlee just couldn't lie to her and she had to admit that she needed help. "Please don't tell Dad. I'm kind of running away for just a bit. George and I got into a fight and I just don't know who I am anymore. I feel like I have no control over anything—" her speech was interrupted by her own sob and she couldn't go on anymore.
Eleanor rubbed her back to comfort her as she listened. "I know how hard it can be sometimes, especially at your age. But what did your father say about running away, hm?" She raised an eyebrow at Marlee who was able to laugh through her crying. "After you leave here, you go straight to George and you sort things out. You take some time to calm down your emotions so that you can have a rational mindset when you speak with him."
