9. DAINSLEIF

Training both Tomo and Kazuha are surprisingly easy for you. After leaving Childe back in front of Snezhayan authority you immediately teleported to Inazuma to check on both kids. Kazuha and Tomo are indeed talented in swordsmen.

"Good job Kazuha, but use your whole strength next time you cut the bamboo."

Kazuha nodded and went back to train. You close your eyes, remembering your interaction with Childe earlier.

You lay Childe down on the grass after you get out from the abyss. You assume Childe was fighting some monsters and get injured before fall unconscious.

You open your mask before gasping for fresh air then process to heal his wounds. You can hear him slowly moving. Your hand reached for his head, patting him.

"Shhh, It's alright now, get some rest Ajax. I will take care of the rest,"
You reassured him, he must be on guard every time since in the abyss. You thought it would be nice if he rests a bit.

He suddenly stops moving as he hears your voice. You are a stranger but somehow, he knows he can trust you. Your voice sounds calming and peaceful. Sending him in an immediate calm state of mind. As his eyes grow heavier, the last thing he looks at is how those (H/C) hair shine under the sunlight.

"There is no such thing as an honourable death." You said deadpanned.

"Ehhh??" Tomo and Kazuha look at you in confusion. You three were reading a novel about samurai earlier, how the protagonist is described dead in an honourable way.

"If you die, you die. If you live, you live. That's how it works, do not think so lowly about your life that you are willing to give up your life."

Silence fills the air.

"Nee-san... Is something happen to you?" Kazuha asks you out of worry.

You shake your head. Being immortal is painful, watching everyone grow old and die while you don't change at all is hard. It's like time is freezing on you. All this time you've been wondering if this is your punishment for never being grateful for life? By being an immortal being?

Now you understand the beauty of the short life of a mortal being. You just can't understand why humans choose the path such as Honourable death while they still have a long road ahead.

"Kazuha, Tomo. Can you promise me something? Just this time."

"Sure! Tell us!" Tomo happily said.

"Promise me you won't die and call me when you need help ok?"

"Ok! Pinky promise?"

"Pinky Promise."

Kazuha and Tomo let out a big smile on their face. You can't help but smile too.

"Do you want pizza?"

"Yes!"

You just love them. They are such a loveable cute brother you never had. That's why you swore you won't let neither Tomo nor Kazuha died.

If there is an encounter, there is a farewell. After six months living in Inazuma, the time of you had to go back to Rome finally come.

Of course Kazuha and Tomo didn't let you go just like that. They insist you to stay, Tomo whined and hug your legs while Kazuha unexpectedly cried. They got attached to you more than you expected. So it takes a while to calm them down and reassures them you will meet them again someday.

You left both of them your artefact, so you know their situation and their locations, telling them you will be there if they're in danger.

Every night, you would sneak out and teleport to Guyun Stone forest, where Osial was sealed. There, you will talk about your day and ramble. You are not sure if he can hear it or not but you still do it. Even if Osial can't hear it, there are stars and moon who listens to you.

And here you are in Guyun Stone Forest. You feel the wind gently blow from the land. The moon is full and the stars are shining, no cloud can be seen that night.
You can hear someone's step, and you immediately know who he is.

"The moon is beautiful isn't it?" You lay down on a stone, admiring the clear sky from the highest point.

He didn't answer, he looks at you from where he stood instead. You know he won't answer but still try nevertheless.

"It's been a long time Dain,"

"A long time indeed..." Dainsleif whispered. You look at him. "Come here and sit with me," You pat space beside you.

Dainsleif didn't answer, he walks towards you instead.

"How was your day?"

"..."

"Oh right, hunting abyss like usual."

Silence

"I thought you forgot me..." Dainsleif mumbles.

"Well, I didn't,"

The last time you two met was in Khaen'ria before their destruction. You decided to visit them as a business partner and meet Dainsleif in the process. Short story, you two befriend each other until Khaen'ria fell, since then you never saw him again.

"When Khaen'ria fell, why don't you seek for me?" You asked in a soft tone.

"I don't need to bring you more problems."

You don't answers. Unlike in the past, conversation with Dainsleif now is way harder.

"Do you hate me....? For not helping Khaen'ria..."

"Surprisingly not," He answered faster than you expect. You unconsciously smiled at his words.

"Will you come with me to Rome? Under my wing? I'll take care of you."

'Yes,'

"No."

You just smiled at him before glance back at the sky. The wind is getting colder as the night goes on. You stand up, before patting your clothes.

"Well then, it's nice to meet you again Dainsleif, See you again. Remember, my offer still stand."
You walk away before teleporting.

Dainsleif took a glance at your back. No matter how many hundreds of years have passed or how age has changed, you still remain as gorgeous as he remembered.

The tingling feeling he feels everytime he saw you, the way his face getting warm when you're close to him, the way his heart beat faster around you, he misses that old feeling.

Dainsleif sighed, every day he thought about you yet he doesn't have any courage to seek you. When you slowly getting out of his head, when he finally can forget those feelings, there you are laying under the moonlight. Eyes sparkling and (H/C) hair shining, making you look like an angel.

You still as kind and welcoming just like in the past, you haven't changed at all, he loved that. You are different from those bastards who called themselves the archon who destroyed his homeland.

He still remembers how Lumine laugh and said that he was in love with you. Dainsleif shake his head before covering his face with his hands, hiding his red face.

He just can't help but fall in love with you.
