demon birds can suck my cock

tw : sensory overload and/or the beginnings of a panic attack

the camper's were all getting seated for the day's dinner when percy arrived, his cyclops in tow. dionysus snickered slightly from the head table before his voice drawled out, "well, well, well, if it isn't peter johnson. my millennium is complete."

"percy jackson, sir." percy corrected through gritted teeth.

salem mostly drowned out their conversation, there really wasn't anything she cared to hear. she'd already met tantalus prior to the dinner, and quite frankly didn't care much about what he had to say.

all she really got from the conversation, was that the cyclops was named tyson.

"yes, well," tantalus said, once the talking had died down. "another fine meal! or so i am told."

as he spoke, he inched his hand toward his filled dinner plate, as if maybe the food wouldn't notice what he was doing, but to salem's delight, it did. it shot away down the table as soon as he got within six inches and salem shared an amused smile with honey.

"and here on my first day of authority," he continued, "i'd love to say what a pleasant form of punishment it is to be here. over the course of this amazing summer, i hope to torture," salem almost laughed at his choice of words, "er, interact with each and every one of you children"

dionysus clapped politely, leading to some half hearted applause from the satyrs but no campers, not even castor and pollux, mr.d's twin sons. tyson was still standing at the head table, looking uncomfortable, but every time he tried to scoot out of the limelight, tantalus pulled him back.

salem almost felt bad for the guy. the thing about salem is she was actually such a softie, sure she acted like a bitch all the time but that was only because she wasn't a big fan of people, but you showed her a baby puppy she would melt. it was even a running joke throughout the hermes cabin that salem cried to almost every disney film.

"and now for some changes!" tantalus gave the campers a crooked smile that made salem know he was planning something unpleasant,  "we are reinstituting the chariot races!"

murmurs broke out between tables, some of which were fear, excitement, and much anxiety. salem made eye contact with clarisse, who's excitement was overthrown by her nervousness.

"now i know," tantalus continued, raising his voice to be heard over the groups of children, "that these races were discontinued some years ago due to some, ah, technical problems."

"three deaths and twenty-six mutilations," lee fletcher, an apollo kid called out from his table.

"yes, yes," tantalus waved him off as if the boy's words meant nothing,  "but i know that you will all join me in welcoming the return of this camp tradition." he paused, waiting for someone to challenge him.
