Tomioka didn't notice it at first, because after all, pain was something he was very familiar with.

But there were certain things that were out of place and he realized it the longer he was awake.

For starters, the constant aching in his leg.

It was numb at first, but Tomioka assumed it was because he was highly sedated or half conscious.

But even in his sleep he felt the pain.

A burning sensation that would not go away.

Then he noticed that other than the pain, there was nothing.

He couldn't feel his leg.

He couldn't move it or do anything.

He assumed it would go away with time and he would feel his leg again.

But the pain never left.

It was always there and he didn't know what to do.

Then, he started noticing the others.

The way Sanemi's gaze would immediately move to his leg the second he let out any noise of pain.

How Shinobu would always put something blocking his view when she changed the bandages on his leg.

How both of them seemed to avoid bringing his leg up in general.

He was confused, to say the least.

He didn't understand why they wouldn't tell him.

They trusted him right?

He trusted them.

So why couldn't they trust him?

Did he do something wrong again?

He just wanted answers.

The pain coming from his leg mixed with all the medication Shinobu had given him constantly affected the way he thought.

He could barely form any thoughts to begin with.

He just wished they would tell him.

Something was wrong with his leg and he wanted to know what.

Sanemi rested his hand on Tomioka's thigh.

Despite being lucid the day before, eventually everything caught up with him and he was back to sleeping for most of the day.

Sanemi always sat by his side and if it bothered Shinobu, she never said anything about it.
