Accept: To take something into possession/ to take something to be true.

Example 1:

It took a few years, but Nico was finally able to accept that he liked Will.

Example 2:

Piper was unsure of whether to accept the bunches of roses from the stranger or not.

Except: to exclude.

Example 1:

Percy loves all of his classes except for english, history, math, science, and any other class that exists.

Example 2:

All of the camp, except for Leo, enjoyed roasting and eating marshmellows.  Leo didn't like it because he was the fire that they used for roasting the treats.
