THE NEXT DAY

YOUR POV

It's the next day and I'm exhausted. me and newt have been working in the gardens since the sun rose. I still can't get yesterday's events outta my head; gally being a dick, newt getting so protective over me etc.

yeah, what gally did can't even be described but I wanna know WHY he did It. ever since I've been here, gally's been a pain, but I never thought he would do what he did. I just can't believe gally would ever-

"y/n?" newt said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"yeah?" I asked, looking over at him.

"are you okay? you dropped your shovel," newt questioned, looking concerned.

"um, yeah I was just thinking, don't worry," I said, not wanting newt to question me again. It's bad enough I need to deal with this shit, let alone newt getting too overprotective of me.

"you sure?" he double-checked.

"yeah, definitely," I smiled, making sure he believed me.

"alright then," he finished then went back to his shovelling.

It's been about two hours when till the last time me and newt talked. yeah, we haven't talked, but newt has been staring at me for the majority of the time.

"okay, why do you keep staring at me?" I asked newt, agitated at the sudden scene.

"I know there's something on your mind y/n," he answered. I know he was right, I'm so worried about the runners. I mean since this morning I've had a massive doubt In my mind. I don't know what It Is, I just feel like somethings gonna happen. something bad, really bad.

"It's nothing," I said, working on the vegetables. he walked over to me, grabbing both of my hands to stop me from working.

"please tell me y/n," he said, pulling the puppy eyes.

'god I can never resist those' I thought.

I sighed, "fine," I muttered, and began walking to fresh patch of grass, next to the gardens. I sat down, gesturing for newt to do the same.

"so what's up?" he asked, sitting beside me.

"I just have a really bad feeling," I said, looking down.

"what do you mean?" he asked me.

"I don't know, I just feel like something bad is gonna happen," I finished, feeling ashamed of myself.

"hey," he began, lifting my chin to look Into his big brown orbs.
"whatever you think is gonna happen wont, because I'll be here by your side," he said, smiling.
"If something bad was gonna happen, don't you think It would've by now? I mean, we're here, what could go wrong? the walls are protecting us after all," he finished, letting me think for a second about what he said. I mean, yeah we are protected, but what If something happened IN the glade? I looked at newt and nodded.

"okay," I said, and hugged him, wrapping my arms around him. I feel protected and safe when I'm around newt, I don't know how he does It, maybe It's what he says or does? or maybe It's just him? either way, he always knows how to make me feel happy.

"y'know y/n-" he began speaking when suddenly I felt droplets of substance drip onto my head.

'huh?' I thought and looked up, as did newt.
