Coffee Shop Love Song

54 10 2

        You took me out,

Told my mom it was a date.

        Met her, she loved you,

        it was probably a mistake.

        Drove around town.

        Laughing like it was nothing.

        Turned my world around,

        for an hour, I think.

We both knew we weren't getting coffee.

But I needed to get away.

You dared me to kiss you,

        another mistake.

        A sweet mistake,

too bad it can't happen again.

        That's one I'd make everyday.

        Even if we're just friends.

That is, when you can get me to talk.

After everything that happened that night.

        Remembering it all,

        It doesn't feel right.

Told your mom you were with a friend,

        Justin, I think you said.

I had to pretend it never happened,

Cause it makes me feel dead.

Thinking about the past we had,

Trying to find the words to say.

        It makes me sad,

        I could use another date.

        Mom thought we got coffee,

        I got a broken heart.

You almost made it in my jeans.

        You could from the start.

No one ever said love was easy.

Just that it fucks you up inside.

        They were right, believe me.

Just forget the part about the lies.

        Mom thought we got coffee...
