"Breathe once more in her direction," Caspian threatened, emerald eyes flashing dangerously. "And I will make sure that's your last breath."

Alex grinned wickedly, "Oh really?" He held the dagger closer to Harper's neck, blood already trickling down onto the sharp metal that began to glitter threateningly in the starry night. "Do it. Do it and she'll be gone with me."

"Do it Cass," Harper gasped, tears strolling down her face. "Do it. We can reunite in the skies, live the life we were deprived from in this merciless world."

In the deafening silence, Caspian could hear something shattering.

His heart.

The heart that Harper had put together. The heart that Harper saved. She was the reason why his heart was able to still stay beating.

If Caspian lost her... he'd lose the beating of his heart.

The parts that Harper had helped put together. The pieces that Harper had healed. The pieces that would be like whispers lost in the howling wind...
No. Not again.
