CHAPTER FIVE ❛the rocky horror picture show❜
LIVING IN CAMP NIGHTWING, there is very little time for moments of peace. Billie Slater usually looks at the concept of sleep as a God sent, delivered from above, but since she is trapped in a not-sound-proof cabin, so all the sounds of nature can sing her to sleep (sarcasm, by the way — the woods of Ohio don't produce very peaceful sounds when the moon is high), that also gets humid and stale by nightfall, and is shared with Nick Goode, snoring champ, sleep isn't so appealing anymore.
The pair have since made another agreement, after Billie lost it, and went all Billy Barker on Nick (but with a pillow, of course. Not a baseball bat . . . Jesus), that Nick would sleep every night with his own pillow, resting on his face. It wasn't a brilliantly thought out strategy, considering his weird approach at sleeping positions, and constant itch to roll about, but it did seem to dull the sound just that little bit more, meaning Billie could actually get the somewhat normal night of sleep she so very deserved before she kicked him out.
