"there are new people moving in that shithole..." i heard tyra say from beside me as we rode past the field, looking over at the creepy house that stayed empty- until now.

"no fucking way..." i muttered, moving her over so i could look out the window. i saw a car out front & anyone could clearly tell that the door to the house was open. "looks like you actually  have neighbors." tyra snickered.

i rolled my eyes & faced the front. "i live five blocks away." i told her & rolled my eyes, "you don't think they're gonna be any trouble... right?"

"nah, the car looks cheap... they're probably some snoozy couple with a dog. probably just wanted something secluded that they thought would be a safe environment to raise babies in." she stated in a bored tone, stopping at the stop sign.

"summerville is the farthest thing from an environment... a safe one at that." i laughed. she pulled up to my house & nodded at me. "maybe you should go over, say hi." she wiggled her eyebrows. i gave her an unamused look & grabbed my backpack. "i guess it wouldn't hurt. i mean, who knows? maybe they need a dog sitter or something & i could make some extra cash."

tyra waved at me, "mhm, later y/n/n." she backed out & drove away. i went inside & threw my backpack down. "there are new people moved on the street, a few blocks away!" i called out. of course there was no answer.

i sighed & made my way over to the fridge & pulled out old take out from last night or the night before. i plopped down on the couch & turned the tv on.

it's been two days since i found out about the new people moving in & i decided to go check them out, maybe mess with them. i grabbed my backpack & decided to just suck it up & walk the few blocks to the house. wouldn't wanna pass up that job, if they would even offer me one.

i could feel myself sweat, the worst part about summer here, is that it's always the hottest. i continued to walk for the next ten minutes, stumbling into the open space of the back yard.
i pulled myself up & fixed my pants, making sure my backpack was still stable.

i heard grunting & movement in what looked like the shed, slowly walking over to it. i grabbed onto the old wooden door, peeking over it. someone was working on a car & they were basically buried in the hood, looking at the engine.

the person slammed their hands down onto the opened hood, "motherfucker!" i heard them say under their breath. the voice sounded young. i smiled to myself & decided that now would be the perfect time to mess with them.

"wow, it's pretty brave of you to move into a place like this!" i perked. the person jumped & quickly moved himself from the engine. "uhh... who are you?" he looked around before stopping to look at me.

"oh!" i placed my hand on my head, "silly me! i'm kinda your neighbor, i live a couple blocks away." i smiled, watching the boy become even more confused. "okay... well what are you doing here?" he asked.

i shrugged & picked at my finger nails. "i just wanted to see who got silvia's old house." i told him in a smooth tone, going to walk away.
"wait!" i heard the boy call after me. i smirked to myself but quickly dropped it before turning around. "what?"
