UPPER EAST SIDE, NY.
( she for keeps. )

"but she never really quits, she
just says she did"

karima hummed along to the tv
girl song that quietly played through her room speaker.

she ripped the plastic
off of the blank canvas, placing
it on her easel.

she'd woken up 30 minutes
prior, painting the 1st thing she wanted
to do at 6am.

truthfully, she just needed to
get her mind off of the events of the
night before.

at first she thought it was a
dream, but her sudden hangover
changed that.

she'd decided that she would do
everything in her power to avoid akeno, but how long could that last?

karima knew that he would want to talk something over, code for asking her not to tell audrey, which was something she had zero problem doing.

she wanted to do the same with
audrey, but that girl was the only one she could stand out of the whole group.

also the only sane one.

of course there was max & julian,
but based on last night, they both had
their issues.

karima did too, but it was not as
worse as theirs.

"poor little liddy, she
wishes it would dark, but it's never
really dark in la"

her music suddenly stopped playing &
was replaced with the horrendous ringtone, meaning someone was calling.

she ignored it, receiving a text
moments later.

mirlandé 💓.
rimmaaa answer the
phone!!

"what do you want?"

she held the phone
by her shoulder, continuing
to paint on the canvas.

"is it a crime to want to talk to your
best friend?" mirlandé answered

karima smacked her
lips, putting the phone on
speaker.

"what are you doing?"

"you called me to ask me what i was doing?"

"karim-"

"i'm painting" she huffed.

"painting before school? woah, italy did change you"

she rolled her eyes at
mirlandé's statement, the phone
went quiet again.
