swim instructor
"y/n-san!"

y/n stood on the pool deck,
scanning the pool near the
shallow end where the first
swim lessons of the fall session
were being held. the rest of the
pool area had been shut down,
the pool itself remaining empty
aside from the shallow end
as she watched the young
children try to learn how to swim.

it was the first lesson of a new
six-week session of swim lessons.
most of the kids from the previous
few sessions had returned, although
there have been some new ones
which y/n was more than happy
enough to greet.

she turned her head toward
the person calling her name.

"what's up?"

swim instructor
"would you help me out real
quick? mei over there is being
real stubborn."

she pointed to a young girl,
y/n's eyes following to see the
girl sat on the bleachers with
her arms crossed and a scowl
on her face.

y/n was known to have a sort
of "magic effect" on kids; she
could always cheer them up and
convince them to comply with
what their swim instructors asked
no matter how stubborn they were.

being an education major, she was
quite fond of kids and loved working
with them. she was truly passionate
about helping children get a good
foundation at a young age, hence,
why swim classes were always her
favorite shifts to work at the pool.

y/n approached the young girl.

"hey there! what's wrong, hun?"

mei
"the water is too cold."

"is it? you know, it's not cold once
you get used to it. you want to swim,
right?"

mei
"mmhmm."

the young girl pouted. y/n chuckled
a little.

"well, miss mei, you only have..."

y/n checked her watch.

"ten minutes to get back into
the water 'fore your lesson's over.
you don't wanna miss the whole
thing just 'cause it's cold, do you?"

the girl shook her head.

mei
"mm mm."

"so then go ahead and get in! look,
miss jun is even doing jumps!"

y/n pointed to the girl's swim
instructor who was currently
holding the hand of a young boy
and helping him jump off of the
deck and into the water.

"that looks fun, right?"

mei
"yeah..."
