kids

A/N: hi everyone! I finally posted my Maiko oneshots story, Ive been working on this for a very long time and specifically for this chapter cause I started writing it in june so it took a while, in this os Ill be writing about Zuko and Mai mostly as parents, I say mostly cuz youll never know but the topic will be mostly that one :)

Mai's pov
I snuggled my face in the pillow as some somebeans hit my face, I searched for Zuko with my hand and "accidentally" hit him in the face
"mhh, what?" he muttered in the curtains "Zuko" I muttered still not opening my eyes "what time is it?"
"I...I dont know, why?"
"we have to...we have to babysit, Zuko"

"ughhh is it today?" he groaned as he placed his face in the crook of my neck

"yeah" I said smelling the scent of his hair...it was so spicy and relaxing,

"I dont want to wake up now"
"me neither" I said placing a light kiss on his lips
"then lets just say that we had a meeting and that it took more than expected" said he smirking, his eyes still closed
"sounds good to me...tell me again why we agreed?"
"because were theyre friends and Aang and Katara need to see the Earth King"
"ugh I dont want to be around two little kids all day" I said covering my face with my blanket

"theyre three" said Zuko slowly trying to untagle my hair with his fingers
"UGHHH when they became three?"
"3 years ago, remember?"

I love Katara and Aang, theyre funny and sweet and all...but I dont love kids, theyre loud and- and dirty and ugh...we stayed quiet for what seemed like 15 minutes, then I started to get up, as much as I hate children I dont want to be too late
"Zuko"
"what?"
"get up"
"no thanks"
I got up and went to put on my clothes
"get up, its late, I dont want to disappoint them"
he covered his face with his hands and groaned once more "you know what?" said he

I sighed putting on my shirt
"what?" i asked annoyed
"we should take this the positive way"
"and whats the positive way?"
"I dont know...maybe Itll be fun staying with some kids for a while and maybe- I mean maybe-"
"Zuko" I blocked him before he could even finish the sentence
"no, im not having kids anytime soon, Zuko...we talked about this, I would make a terrible mother"
he stayed behind me as he placed his head on my shoulder, looking at me in the mirror "yeah...we'd be awful parents..." I looked down to agree.

I finished putting in place my hair when Zuko is fully dressed up, we began walking towards the exit of the palace but I cant but think about me and Zuko as...parents, its weird...why do I even bother to think about it...I mean-
we hear Appa groan and my thoughts interrupt

no ones pov

"KYA PUT THAT WATER DOWN, YOU CANT PUNCH YOUR BROTHER" they heard Katara screaming, after a few minutes they saw them, Bumi was bigger than the last time they saw him, hes at least 8 now...from what they know Kyas 6 and the new arrivals 3...they saw the family getting off the bison, the little kid held Kataras hand and Bumi and Kya were in front of their father.
They greeted eachother, then the little guy near Katara slightly coughed rubbing his eye, it was so cute, Mai slightly smiled at him.
"oh sorry, sweetie say...whats your name?" said Katara
the little boy looked up at the Fire Lady "Temsin" said the kid stumbling on the letters
"its a pleasure Tenzin" said Mai smiling, now kneeled in front of him.
"kids, we have to go, be nice k?" said Aang
Katara gave a big hug to her youngest and planted kisses all over his face, "sweetie, we have to go" said Aang "mommy dont go" the little kid grabbed his mothers leg "moms gonna be back soon, okay?" "mkay..." the child wouldnt let go of her "Tenzin, you can stay with auntie Mai, shes great giving hugs"  "really?" the boy sniffed, "really?" asked Mai at that affirmation
"yeah..." Katara picked up his son and placed it in Mais arms.
And then they were gone, now there were only them and the kids, little Tenzin still crying a bit. Kya began looking around, when she saw the corridors of the royal palace she rushed inside "woah thats so big here, why is it so big?" Zuko stuttered following her, making sure she wasnt going to get lost, Bumi followed bored...meanwhile, Mai was gone...she was at the turtleducks pond with Tenzin, who still had a little trouble walking, the kid was still sad for their parents departure.
"I- ugh...dont cry"
Tenzin continued crying
the only thing she could possibly think of...was to hug him...so she hugged him, and the boy stopped whining, just breathed in her chest.
"your mom will be here soon and you know what will make her very happy? that you had fun here with us" she released the hug
"can I have another hug?"
"sure, come here"
the boy rushed in her arms.
"mom was right, you give great hugs"
"thats good to hear" a smile appearing on her features...
