Chapter 36: Demons in the Night

Rimuru's Pov

The four of us went into the stadium and got our seats, I feel like this will be pretty boring. I am already annoyed with the looks we are getting from some people, if someone tries something I swear to myself that they will not exist for any longer.

After around 30 minutes the stadium was mostly filled, I guess whoever is going to speak is pretty popular, I wonder what they believe in and are trying to change that made them such a hot topic.

After a few minutes longer the lights darkened for a few seconds before the spotlight turned on pointing towards the center of the stage, the person the spotlight was focused on was a average looking women in a professional looking dress who was standing behind the podium. Some people in front of us had signs up but since we were behind them none of us could see what was on the front, obviously any of us could use a variety of skills or magic to see what is said but it seems like none of us care that much.

Not long after the women started speaking.

"Hello everyone and welcome to today's rally for Amanda Greenwald, (Authors Note: this is a completely made-up name so there isn't a reference or IRL meaning) I am very happy for such a large turnout! We will be getting underway momentarily so get ready!"

So I guess whoever we are here to see is some chick, I already want to leave before my wives start getting the wrong idea and I end up in a terrible situation tonight. I've heard the "You have to take responsibility for what you've done" line enough for thousands of lifetimes.

After another few minutes another women comes out onto stage, she is definitely more attractive than the last, but still not comparable to D, Ciel, or Shiro. To nobody's surprise she introduces herself as Amanda and starts doing to basic politician stuff that one would expect to hype up the crowd, if it wasn't for the fact that it was blasting throughout the stadium I think I would have fallen asleep listening to it. I have to say I was expecting some radical anti-monster fire and brimstone but her speech was only talking about normal things, like the distribution of government funds, the education system, and immigration policy.

So much for some exciting political revolution underground meeting, I guess real life isn't that exciting, at least not usually. I guess it makes sense who would actually advertise that kind of meeting outside a museum for randoms.

Just as I was about to teleport us back to our hotel room, to get an early start since I just went to sleep last night, the stadium lights started going crazy. I know for a fact this wasn't a malfunction, the tech in Tempest is way too high quality for some spontaneous flicking, which means someone is going to highjack this rally! Finally some actions, I was beginning to regret coming here but I guess is spoke too soon.

After about two minutes all the lights in the stadium turned on at once blinding any normal people or monsters. When the lights calmed down there were a group of people on stage in what I would describe as 21 century tactical gear, they even had modern rifles. Hey, wait a minutes I specifically remember not bringing guns over from other worlds here because they can be annoying, people of this world have plenty of other things for self-defense. There were similar people around the stadium at the exits, I guess this is some kind of terrorist attack. I guess we will sit and wait, I guess it is easy to imagine that in the time I have been gone people in this world invented guns by themselves, they really aren't that complex of a device. Just by looking at them I can see that they are not shooting normal earth bullets either, they have an anti-magic jacket that I would imagine could go straight threw low and mid-tier magic like paper.

The people and the stage look like they are setting up some kind of public execution for Amanda, I don't know the details of if she is corrupt or has some kind of evil past, but I doubt that the black numbers would have let her get so popular if she wasn't genuine.
