Lisa's POV
The woman that I just kissed vanished into thin air. I just delivered her to the afterlife. Looking around me, I see no purpose of staying inside this house so I teleported to the HQ, grim reaper's head quarters. Don't get me wrong we can only teleport to the place where we'd gather soul and to the HQ
The HQ is just like a normal building full of office workers. As I walk inside the hallway I saw one of my colleague Seulgi approaching me
"I heard you only delivered one soul today Lis" she remarked
"Don't call me Lis, we're not friends"
"Come on, loosen up. This is not a competition, whoever gets the promotion surely deserves it"
"And I'll get it" I was about to walk past her when she called me again
"Hey, the boss told me to tell you that if I saw you....."
"Get straight to the point"
"I just wanna say congratulations and the boss wants to see you" she smiled at me and I swear she looks like a bear
"Thanks" that's all that I said and ran fast to the Boss' office
The two wooden door in front of me looks so shiny, the smell of it feels newly painted, the golden handle reflects the light. But before I enter, I composed myself, fixed my suit, and checked my breathing. I'm ready.
I swung the doors open with both of my hand and entered the office confidently, I was greeted by the sight of an office chair, its back to be specific. The smell of expensive cigar filled my nostrils. The office chair turned slowly and the person who summoned me appeared
"Please take a seat" she said and gestured his hand. Yes, she's a lady. A fine one to be exact, but not finer than my lover
I took the seat in front of her and sat comfortably, I hope Seulgi is right, I hope the theory is right also. The reason she called me here must be something important
"Thank you ma'am, Seulgi told me you asked for me?" I said as I took a piece of candy on the jar displayed in front of me. Don't worry peeps we're allowed to do that, and it's free.
"Uh, yes" she said as she puff her cigarette "I think you already know what it is, but to make it official I called you here. Congratulations, you are promoted"
I smiled a little but my insides are screaming from joy. "Thank you ma'am" I said as I put the piece of candy inside my mouth
"You already know the price right? A chance to know what your past life was like"
"Yes" I said and stood up. I'm contemplating if I should ask if the theory about getting reincarnated is a bluff or not. So I asked, "Is the rumour about getting promoted then getting reincarnated true?"
The boss looked shock and not expecting me to ask such question. She poked her cigar to the ashtray and looked at me
"You're one of the most rational grim reaper here, I didn't think you'd listen to some baseless rumour"
"Well, curiousity. I must say"
"Then go and find out, you know where GRR is, right?" (GRR- Just like HR or human resources but for grim reapers. Grim Reaper Resources)
I bowed and walked out. I went straight to GRR to find out. Every step I take, the more heavy my heart feels. Irene Bae, I can still remember her. The promise that I made. "I'll find you in the afterlife" those words that I said keep ringing in my mind. The eager and the determination to find her elevates, the next thing I knew I'm in front of the office
