The Cigarette

Hello Makkalae,

Welcome to saravspace! (Following?)

I am really happy and excited to share that #LettersToMySon is now available on Wattpad! Do support me like you did to #KadavulSetting Magizhchi! Mikka Magizhchi!

And, as usual, I'd like to thank my constants (you know who...) as well as all the new readers for hoping in and reading the story and of course, to my champions-eyy (you know who...)! Nandrigal 🙏

Without much further ado, let's get into the story!

If cigarettes could heal pain, what's the need of love? I was very upset when I saw you asleep with your head on the table, a cigarette between your fingers and more than a half-a-dozen cigarette-buts on the floor. I could not see my son in pain. My heart bled tears, but when I saw the piece of poetry you wrote, I realised how much you love Sivaangi.

Sivu...

You are the cigarette I'd lit,

To inhale and spew smoke out.

You are the intoxication I'd take,

To cherish our memories without break.

You are the best part of 'Me'

To make myself happy and free.

But when you left me...

In a non-smoker's ashtray,

I burnt in a way,

Sent up fumes of grey,

Like love's prey.

We'd fight a lot,

More than we ever fought,

Still the love knot,

Never let us rot.

Endless we are,

Why you are so far?

Let's stop this war,

That'd give us a scar.

I see you

I breathe you

I taste you

I love you

The real 'You'

Like grass and dew

Ever and forever glued.

Come back to me

Sit beside me

Hug me

Kiss me

Love me

Be my 'Me'

Forever and ever...

I fought with God for your happiness, for Sivu to return and colour your life again. As she always should.

I lifted you in my arms and placed you on the bed. I collected the cigarette-butts in a cover and cleaned the table and floor.

I wrote to you with great pain, once again.

With Love,

Aarav (13-04-2012)

"This was after we broke up for the first time." Ashwin winked.

"Still... why did you smoke?" Sivaangi was very angry.

"I was..." Ashwin could not complete his sentence.

Understanding his pain, she shot the next set of questions. "What did you do after the second break-up? And the third... the last one that lasted for a week?"

"I slept nicely after the second and third break-up." Ashwin giggled, looking at Sivaangi

She blinked "What... Seriously?"

"Because I was sure you'd come back to me. Or I'd come to you to mend things and stay happy. That's how we are. Aren't we?"

Sivaangi put one leg on his thighs and the other under them to lock him inside her clutch. "We are always meant to be in love. Love and love only. Always and forever."

"I do not have an escape, do I?" Ashwin teased her again. Sivaangi picked up the next letter, 'Your soulful love' and opened it.

Ashwin grabbed the letter and read it aloud.
