"I swear if he doesn't shut up I'll go insane," I mumbled to myself as my cousin Jun-myeon ran around excitedly, wanting me to go play with him in the pool.
The sun kissed the blue pool in front of us, making it gleam brightly. The small tides of crystalline blue shone recklessly as the smell of chlorine filled our lungs. It was indeed a beautiful day to swim in such a beautiful pool, but the mid-day sun was too bright for my liking.
"C'mon, Y/N, come play with me! I'm so bored!" Jun-myeon whined.
"Oh, really? Listen, kid, I know it's early and many the guests haven't arrived but it's your birthday party. The sun's just too bright and chlorine dehydrates my skin," I answered back, not wanting to do anything.
"Dad, then why don't you go to the pool with me?" Jun-myeon asked poutingly to his father, my uncle. "Y/N's being mean and she won't come with me."
"In a while, buddy. We have to wait for the rest of the guests to get here. They should be here soon," my uncle replied. "Once Na-ra and Hye-jin arrive I'll go in with you."
"Ugh, fine," Jun-myeon scoffed, sitting on one of the plastic chairs nearby.
"I don't know if they'll be on time, if I'm honest. I heard Na-ra was bringing his sister over with Hye-jin. Something about their parents going on vacation," my grandmother gossiped, completely out of nowhere.
"Wait, which sister? I didn't know Na-ra had a sister," my uncle, who clearly didn't attend the wedding, asked.
"Na-ra's sister, Baek-yeol. Oh, that's right, you didn't attend the wedding. Na-ra has a younger sister, Jeongyeon. Remember the girl in the tuxedo that I showed you in the pictures? That's Na-ra's sister," my grandmother answered.
"Oh, that girl? I didn't know that was Na-ra's sister," my uncle replied.
"Well, she is. Your aunt said that Jeongyeon was staying with them because their parents went on a vacation or something," my grandmother continued gossiping. "I wonder if she's coming with her girlfriend."
"I don't think that Nayeon is Jeongyeon's girlfriend, Grandma. Jeongyeon didn't seem very in love at the wedding. They looked like friends to me," I intervened, trying to brush off the fact that Im Nayeon's name upset me.
It's nearly been a month since Na-ra and Hye-jin's wedding. Nearly a month since I had seen someone that had swept me off my feet. There was this girl at Na-ra's and Hye-jin's wedding that drove me insane: the woman in the tuxedo. The way that her ash-blonde hair was tied in a low ponytail and her tall figure complemented her outfit totally melted me. Every night I dreamt of her, but I was sure that I was never going to see her in a long while—or maybe never again. She's just my twice-removed cousin's husband's sister. What were the odds that she magically re-appeared in my life? Just the moment my grandmother mentioned her name, I got goosebumps. If this wasn't just one of my grandmother's cheap gossips, I was going to see her again.
"Well, the bunny-teethed girl looked at her in an odd way, I must say. I'm no one to speculate, but I think they are," my grandmother leaned over and grabbed a chair next to Jun-myeon and me. "I don't like gossips, but I'm sure they are."
