left all alone
no-one came to the rescue
darkness took over the light,
a well known lie: only light can drive out darkness
truth be told, you cannot eradicate darkness
its not an unknown person knocking at your door
it opens the door and welcome itself unannounced
makes itself at home, uninvited,
it peaks through your window, your door and behind you,
overall, darkness is trustworthy
it doesn't delude you into thinking there is hope or light
it warns you of the unknown lurking within its shadows,
the constant fear of being swallowed a whole
is a reminder that it hasn't left your presence
