Rhythm

My driver dropped me off in front of West Ville International School on a bright day. Because of the glare and heat, I placed my palm on my brow to shield my eyes. I quickly tap my ID into the Entrance. Dahil sa pagmamadali ko may nabangga akong dalawang lalaki. Hindi na ako nag-abala pang magsorry dahil late na talaga ako. Hingal akong pumasok sa room. All of my classmates turn their attention to me. 

" You're late! Miss Velez." 

"I'm sorry Miss." Mahinang sagot ko.

" Okay, let's continue. As I said earlier Biochemistry is the branch of science that explores the chemical processes within and related to living organisms. Also, Biochemistry focuses on processes happening at a molecular level. It focuses on what's happening inside our cells, studying components like proteins, lipids, and organelles. It also looks at how cells communicate with each other, for example during growth or fighting illness. Biochemists need to understand how the structure of a molecule relates to its function, allowing them to predict how molecules will interact."

Lunch na nang matapos ang klase namin, palabas ako ng room nang higitin ako ni Delaine. Sabay kaming pumasok ng elivator. Agad niya namang pinindot yung G for Ground floor.

"Why you're so Huggard today? Isang linggo kaba hindi na tulog girl?" tanong ko sa kaniya while leaning on the wall. Hindi niya ako singot patuloy lang ang pikit ng mata niya. Nang makalabas kami sa lobby umuwang agad ang mga hiyawan ng ibang babae. Kaya napatingin ako sa nagkukumpulan doon sa entrance ng gate three.

"Anong meron Del?" 

"Idk!" sagot niya at deretso lang ang lakad. "Kena, gutom ako bilisan mo!"

Agad ko naman siyang hinabol papuntang canteen. As usual ako ang maghahanap ng ma-uupoan siya naman ang oorder. Sinipat ko nang maigi ang aking mata para humanap ng bakanteng upoan. Nag ikot-ikot ako hanggang sa makita kong may paalis, agad naman akong lumapit sa kanila.

"Hey! Girl, alam niyo ba na may bagong member ang hiwaga babae daw."

"Trulaley? Sana hindi ko siya maging karibal kay Zeb o kay Gelo."

"Excuse me..." I interrupt their conversation. "Ummm, I just want to ask kung tapos na kayo?" Malumanay kong tanong.

"Ate Kena?" Agap ng isang bakla. 

I smiled Awkwardly. "Hi, do I know you?" I ask with an astonished tone.

"Yeah! nakalimutan mo?.. Siguro nga medyo matagal na din na hindi tayo nagkita but anyway, I'm Kent ako yung assistant leader no'ng youth camp last two years ago," energetic na saad niya at inilahad ang kamay to formally introduce him self.

"Omyjii, I remember you. Sorry I didn't recognize you, kasi as I remember lalaking lalaki 'yong assistant leader ko. But look at you now, you're so gorgeous," pabirong sabi ko habang tinuturo ko siya ula ulo hanggang paa niya.

"Anyway, we'll give our table over to you na,  Ate Kena." Sabay tayo niya at ng mga kasama niya.
