I turned towards them, trying to see who it was. I felt my body go numb, and I collapsed to the floor, my heart pounding against my chest.

"Vera?" Sloane said, crouching down next to me.

I blinked, my vision blurry. I could feel Sloane's hand on my back.

I heard her say something to Jaxson. I tried to listen, but I couldn't make out the words.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

I tried to speak but nothing came out. I tried again, my voice a soft whisper.

"Did he do something to you?"

"Of course, I didn't," Jaxson said, stepping towards us.

"Stay away from her," Sloane said.

"I was just playing around. She's fine. Right, Vera?"

I felt myself grow weak, my head spinning.

Sloane picked me up and put her arm around my waist.

"Can you stand?"

I shook my head. I tried to speak, but nothing came out.

"It's okay," she whispered. "You'll be okay."

"I didn't do anything to her," Jaxson said. "She's just drunk. You saw how she was acting."

"She's not drunk," Sloane snapped.

I felt her arms tighten around me, and I let out a cry. She loosened her grip on me, her hands gently brushing against my arm.

I tried to speak again but my tongue felt heavy.

"I'm taking her home," Sloane said, starting to walk away.

"It's fine. I'll take care of her. Come on," he said, pulling me towards him.

I let out another cry, trying to fight him off.

"It's okay, I promise," he said.

"No," I gasped, struggling against him.

I felt his hand on my shoulder, and I flinched. He pulled me closer, holding me tightly as we walked to the car.

"I'm taking you home," he said. "Everything's going to be okay."

"You're not taking her anywhere," Sloane said.

Jaxson pulled me towards him.

"Let go of her," Sloane said.

Jaxson laughed. "Come on, Sloane. Don't be like that."

"I'm not going anywhere without Vera," Sloane replied.

"I can take care of her," Jaxson said, wrapping his arms around me.

"You've already done enough," Sloane said, stepping in front of us. I could hear the anger in her voice.

Sloane grabbed my arm, pulling me towards her. I turned towards Jaxson and saw that he was staring back at me, his eyes dark.

"Let's go, Vera," she said, pushing me forward.

I followed behind Sloane, my body feeling heavy. We walked out of the house and into the driveway. She opened the car door, pushing me inside. I stumbled forward, hitting my head on the passenger's seat.

Sloane got into the driver's seat and started the engine.

"What's wrong with you?" She asked, glancing over at me.

I stared back at her, trying to focus on her face. She was frowning, her eyes looking dark and angry.

"Are you drunk?" She asked, turning back towards the road.
