Hello friends!

First things first, this is a boyxboy/ manxman story, so if that makes anyone uncomfortable or offends anyone, this book is definitely not for you.

This story was a bit out of my comfort zone, if I'm being honest; and I've held off on it for a while now because I kept changing things. Originally the storyline was meant to tackle social injustices and oppression surrounding European colonialism; an English aristocrat leaving his little privileged bubble to find that the things he was taught to believe about his country's colonization had a grim unsavoury reality. But as I wrote about some of these important issues, I found such storylines didn't sit right with me and I didn't feel like I could do them proper justice.

As well, I felt unease portraying oppression and social injustices that real people endured; real trauma that real people went through, some even living to this day. It just didn't sit right with me. Is it in good taste for me, someone born a few decades shy of a century later, who doesn't understand that trauma first hand, to portray their traumas as a plot device in a romance story? That too, through the eyes of a character who is a privileged European man? Deep inside my gut told me the answer was 'no'. So with all those thoughts in mind, I chose to cut everything related to depicting oppression, colonization, and dark chapters of history, leaving only a fluffy romance historical fiction story.

I still have the original drafts with the original stories saved so maybe one day I might put them out into the world, but I can't say for sure at this time. With that said, to anyone curious or interested, especially if you live in a settled land or a country that actively partook in colonization, maybe you could look into some reputable sources about the truth dark side of colonialism and the grim realities that we aren't taught in school. As they say those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I'm not a writer by any stretch of the imagination, and I haven't really gone through to edit this story, so there will most definitely grammar and spelling mistakes throughout this book. I do this for fun and I really don't take it too too seriously so please don't expect quality; you've been forewarned!
