"Mama!"

The panic in your 4 year old's voice made your eyes shoot wide open as you quickly sat up in bed. Well, as quick as you could at 7 months pregnant.

"What? What honey?" You asked, carefully moving to the edge of the bed, your round belly making it difficult these days.

Thunder boomed, shaking the house and your toddler yelped, scrambling to get into bed with you. "Mama, I'm scared!" He pulled himself closer to you, his little body trembling.

Chris sat up in bed next to you, "what? What's happening?" Quickly turning to see your little boy clinging to you. His face softened when he heard the rain hitting the windows and thunder rumbling in the distance. "Storms are scary, huh?" He scrunched up his face, stretching his arms out, encouraging him to climb over.

You smiled as your son scrambled over to Chris quickly before lightening struck again, he looked so small wrapped up in Chris's arms, he always did and you were convinced he always would.

His little hands covered his ears, the panic on his face was breaking your heart. "Why are they so loud??" He asked, his voice quiet as he cowered into Chris's chest.

Chris gently stroked the top of his head, while simultaneously guiding you back to rest on the headboard. "It just means it's kind of close right now," your sons eyes widened in fear, "but it's important to remember that thunder and lightning are SO far up in the sky. They're just noises. They can't hurt us." He said, holding him tighter.

Your hands rested on your belly, feeling your baby girl kick her feet around inside. "Honey, sis is moving. Do you wanna feel?" You asked, reaching for his hand.

He smiled, scooting closer to you and stretching his little arm out a far as he could while still remaining in Chris's grasp. His mouth making a small O when he felt her move. He giggled and put his hand over his mouth, "mama! I felt it!" He exclaimed.

You smiled at him, then looked up at Chris who was swooning over the two of you.

"Why don't we have a little sleepover?" Chris suggested, raising an eyebrow. "Well put on Finding Nemo and snuggle until the thunder goes away."

Your son looked over at you with hopeful eyes, "please, mommy?" He begged.

You laughed when you noticed both him and Chris sticking their bottom lip out in a pout. "You guys are so ridiculous!" You laughed, squeezing his cheeks. "Fine! Sleepover it is!"

As if you would've been able to say no. Chris was leaving for 2 weeks in the morning and everyone was dreading it, especially your son. He missed Chris so much when he was gone. He would sit by the window with Dodger, waiting for his car to pull into the driveway.

You reached over and grabbed the remote, turning on the TV and pressing Finding Nemo. You felt Chris pat the bed in between you, signaling for your 4 year old to get comfortable. He snuggled in between the two of you, stroking your face with his little hands.

"I love you, mama." He whispered, his eyes involuntarily fluttering shut and then snapping right back open as he remembered the movie you had on.

You smiled, "I love you, too." You kissed his temple, reaching over to stroke his cheek.

It only took a few minutes for him to settle and shut his eyes, both you and Chris watching him as he slept. Chris's hand absentmindedly reached over, rubbing circles over your belly.

"We did this." You whispered, placing your hands over his. "How did we make such a beautiful family?"

His smile almost brought tears to your eyes. He absolutely adored you with every fiber of his being and it was always evident on his face. "I love you." He whispered, leaning over your son to place a kiss on your cheek.

"I love you, too." You sighed as your 4 year old snuggled into your side, "can we just stay like this forever?"

Chris chuckled, laying down and securing an arm around the both of you. "I would love to."
