Summary: People say that time heals all wounds. In your case, time made it worst. You've been married to Chris for five years, but his absence spoke louder than his words. After 5 years of trying, you've decided that you've had enough, and you left him. But Chris doesn't want to let you go; he doesn't want to give up on your marriage.

Would he be able to fix what you consider irretrievably broken?

Warning: Angst (As always), mention of a toxic friendship, and kind of violent behavior (nothing too bad I swear).

"Fuck you"

-Y/N

You couldn't remember the last time you had lunch with your friends. Yes, you spent a lot of time with your best friend, you were even living with her now. But your other friends, you couldn't remember the last time you talked to them face to face. You called each other from time to time, and they'd send you messages every time something about you and Chris would appear on the press, but that was it.

Your best friend thought it would be a good idea for you to meet around lunch and talk about the old times. After two days of thinking about what your thing was and having no clue, you thought it wasn't a bad idea.

But now that the four of you were all together, you realized sitting in a restaurant and sipping good wine with your friends was definitely not your thing.

You didn't have a lot of friends, but you had good friends. You would have been more comfortable if it was only you, your best friend and Brooke. But for some weird reason, Alison was also there.

You had nothing against her, but you two weren't particularly close. When you saw her entering the restaurant with Brooke, you knew you were in big trouble.

There had always been that weird dynamic between Alison and you. Her words seemed nice at first, but they always felt like insults in disguise.

It was actually Chris who made you realize it. He noticed how Alison would always start by saying, 'don't take it the wrong way, just before throwing her venom. At first, you refused to believe him. But when you started counting the amount of time that she would actually use the exact words in a conversation, you slowly started to take your distance.

You needed friends who supported you and were genuinely happy when you were happy. Having competitive friendships was a thing in high school. You weren't going to continue that toxic game with Alison now that you were grown-ups.

At first, you thought things had changed after years. Alison was now married and the mother of adorable twins, so when she started talking about her family, you thought you could start to relax. But Alison was determined to prove to you that some things never change.

"It's funny how I got married three years after you, Y/N. I mean, I have two kids, and you're still on honeymoon planet," Alison said, laughing.

There it was: the first blow. The subtlety and the mastery of the attack almost amazed you. You gave Alison a small smile, deciding it would be best to remain silent. The past weeks had been hard enough; you weren't going to add more drama to your life.

"How's the tour going?" You asked Brooke.

You and Brooke knew each other since your dancing days. She was such a sweet woman, and the only reason you weren't seeing her too much was because of her career. She was a ballet dancer in New York now, and you couldn't be happier for her. It'd been a time you were contemplating the same career, but one nasty injury, and you were done. You weren't as good as Brooke, but it's something to choose to end a career and another to be forced to, betrayed by your owned body.
