How I imagine Makenzie^

After a full day of tests, Killua's completely worn out. Retz joins the two boys on their walk home, since Gon is spending the night at her place, but also wants to walk Killua home. Killua's tired, exhausted, and can hardly even walk.

"You alright, Killua?" Retz asks.

"I'm so gay, so tired, I can't even walk straight." He grumbles.

Retz laughs, then realizes Killua just came out to her. She decides not to comment on it, though. Honestly she never had a doubt that Killua was queer. Besides, he said it so comfortably, as if he forgot that he never told her he was gay.

Killua, though, realizes what he just said. He slaps a hand over his mouth, which also wakes him up a bit. He looks over at Retz, and she raises an eyebrow at him.

"What?" She asks.

"Sorry- nothing." Killua clears his throat, looking down. Right, of course she wouldn't overreact or anything. She's queer, Gon's queer. All three of them are queer. With them, it's a safe space.

Retz chuckles. "Chill, Killua. You're safe with us. No judgement allowed here." She pats him on the back.

"Right."

Something occurs to Retz, and she stops in her tracks. "Hold on- does my sister know you're gay?"

"Yeah..." Killua looks down. "The entire middle school probably does by now..."

Gon notices the silent fire in Retz's eyes. "That little bitch." She growls. "Alright, let's get you home. I need to have a word with my sister."

After dropping Killua off, Gon and Retz head over to her place. Gon looks at her. "Don't do anything crazy." He warns.

"I know." Retz sighs. "My family in general was supportive when I came out. But Makenzie... I could tell it was a facade. She didn't act the same afterwards. And she was clearly uncomfortable just looking at me. But goddamnit I never wouldn't thought she'd turn out to be a bully."

Gon doesn't reply to that.

"Anyways, how's Abe doing?" Retz asks. "We don't talk much about that. But, we're alone right now."

"She's not... doing so great."

Gon tells her all about it, and they continue to talk on the subject the whole way to Retz's home. Once they've arrived, Retz gets the key to their old Victorian home from her pocket and unlocks the front door.

"Mak should already be here." Retz says. She and her sister usually take the schoolbus.

"Are your parents home?" Gon asks.

"Mom gets here in about an hour." Retz tells him, checking the time on her phone. "My dad should be home any minute now if he's not already."

The two overhear footsteps coming down the stairs. They look up to see Makenzie is the one descending. She notices Retz, and then she notices Gon is at her side.

"Keep it down this time, would you?" Makenzie retorts as she grabs a Gatorade from a package next to the staircase. "I've gotta study tonight."

Retz glares at her sister. "Makenzie. We need to talk."

Makenzie pauses. "Yeah, what of?" She crosses her arms, leaning on the railing of the staircase.

Just then, the front door opens again. Gon moves out of the way as Retz's father enters the house. He smiles at his daughters. "Good evening, girls." He then notices Gon at Retz's side. "Ah? A pleasure to see you again, Gon."
