Chp. 11: ~~Bitter Sweet Reality~~

        "No!........Stop!..NO!!" "Skylar , Skylar! Wake up!" My eyes sprung open and hunter's straddling me and shaking me like a rag doll.

"H-Hunter ?" My voice was feeble , I could barely hear myself "So, it's me. I'm here"

Before I knew it my arm were around his neck and my eyes burning with tears. "What's wrong, you were screaming out in your sleep , were you having a nightmare?"

I learned back to see his face and I was met with worried eyes . "Talk to me bellá, what troubles you?"

I took a few more seconds to think and I knew I could trust him .

"I ......" I screwed my eyes shut as the pain of the memories ached my heart.

"Talk to me bellá", I took a deep , straying breath , and started .

"Last year I was raped --as soon as I said that. Hunter went unnaturally stiff , as if he were remembering something.....what could that possibly be-- ever since I have been having these......nightmares, for long now. I try to get over them, I visited a therapist and they stopped but......then they started coming back...and.....and I end up feeling his hands all over me again . And no matter how hard I scream , no one ever tries to help me."

By now my voice has raised 3 octaves . I held my head down , the pain was becoming undesirable. Silence filled the air around us , but I didn't bother to look up , he's probably disgusted with me . I pulled my legs into a meditation position trying to give him any space he may want. Then I feel a hand on my thigh , I looked to my leg and his hand was resting on it.

I grazed up at him and his eyes were wary , like he felt my pain and a little bit of something I can't place.....but no.... it has to be pity.

"Skylar..... what was done to you was not fair. To have to go through that trauma was not fair.......But I assure you , that for as long as I am around , no one will ever...harm you again. I swear on my life you this mí amor ."

His words touched me even more than when Ja-.......huh.....

"Thank you. That means a lot.....the only other person who has ever been there for me was Ja....." I foreclosed my eyes , recalling what he had said to me , I stil cant say his name it just hurts too much .

"Skylar .... you can trust me" I looked up at Hunter and I knew I could trust him , how is that even possible , I barely know him.....how can I trust a man I barely know?

Unfortunately a yawn escaped me and the sleep kicked back in .

"You're tired , come, you have to sleep. " Hunter leaned in and began to put me back in a laying position .

"Wait. What about the nightmares?" I asked him suddenly, not wanting to have to get back up.

"How about this.....I hold you while you sleep . That way the nightmares have to go through me. Deal?"

I. Looked at Hunter with utter dismay , could this man lay with me? Can I let him.....

As I sat on the bed I figured I had nothing to loose .

"Ok, just......no fonling. Ok?" , "on my honour." He raised his hand in a boy scout sign.

I turned on my side looking out at the city that never sleeps .

I could see a little over the trees and the lights of the buildings glittered like a thousands stars , colours merging together when I squint. The sound of police sirens doesn't disturb the night , but rather adds to its ambiance . The sound of cars dragging on the assault while the low hum of the saxophone player seeps through . The peaceful darkness that holds the city , drapes over her as if to protect her from the rest of the universe. While she protects her city... the city protects its young. From the baby waking its mother because it became restless , to the young man contemplating his life choices as he stands on the street corner. The different types of souls roaming through the precious city , just add to her growing culture.........

@well you sound like a wuss..... oy, how did I end up tied to you...@ The sound of my annoying subconscious pulls me out of my Shakespeare moment.

As I contemplate my sanity, Hunter slowly slips his arm under me and the other over my waist. He slid me across the sheets until my back was at his chest , the warmth is just radiating off his body in waves and his heart beat is at an all time high .

"Sleep now , mí amor , and I shall protect you."

His words slurred off the back of my neck causing my hair to stand on end. I closed my eyes softly and let the deep sleep to swallow me.
