*I tried making Xue Yang a cousin to Wen Yuan (you know when you're really close to someone but not blood related at all and you call them aunt, uncle, cousin etc etc, that situation) but couldn't find the proper term*
Ever since the establishment of gaining protection from the Jiang Sect, Shenguai was finally starting to be perceived as a peaceful sect after a good 3 months had passed.
After all, with two prominent major sects (especially one that devotes themselves on purity and righteousness) giving their word and stating that Shenguai won't harm them, townsfolk and other cultivators were starting to feel at ease whenever they saw a Shenguai disciple come down from the Burial Mounds knowing that they won't hurt them unless they had a reason to. But still, major sects (and some minor) and their cultivators did not trust Shenguai.
Today was your average day in Yilling. The townsfolk promoting their products to people passing by the town, workers working hard to provide for themselves or for their families, the occasional Shenguai disciple coming to visit or help out in the town whenever they had free time.
Everything was going peacefully today. Wen Yuan had gone to visit his uncles in Yunmeg (Lan Xichen had stuff to do in Yunmeg so he stayed with Jiang Cheng to be with his nephew as well), the disciples of Shenguai were practicing their music cultivation with Lan Wangji to keep their golden core strength, Sect Leader Shenguai Lan finally got the nap he deserved.
It was just peaceful.
Until it was not.
It was your average, it really was. That was until a certain head disciple came down from the mountain and caused trouble by accident.
It really was an accident, after all, what the hell was he suppose to do when there are swords aiming at his throat!
He accidentally bumped into them which caused him to drop his basket of berries and ruin their clothes when he tried to catch them but promptly slipped on one and smashed into them, staining their clothes.
He knew people were sensitive but damn were these people sensitive as hell!
Thankfully they lowered their swords but he wasn't lucky as they took him by the collar and shoved him on their sword to go somewhere.
The townsfolk tried to intervene as they saw Xue Yang as a good guy who merely caused an accident but were rendered useless as they took him away.
So instead, one of the more brave townsfolk went up the mountain to alert the Shenguai leader what happened as no disciples were down except for the head disciple.
Needless to say, Sect Leader Shenguai Lan was not happy that his nap was disrupted.
"Light, what did you just say?"
"Someone from the town came up to the mountain to alert us that Xue Yang has been kidnapped. They tried to stop the kidnappers but were not successful"
"Why is it that bad stuff happens on good days..."
"We need to rescue him"
"Yes we do....five more minutes though"
"Shall I gather some of our disciples?"
"Do whatever you want, as long as you don't go trying to save him and let me sleep"
Light was exasperated at dark, how can one be a Lan while not being a Lan?
Regardless, light was going to let dark sleep as he was going to lead the rescue mission. Walking up to the bell, he rang it four times as four rings symbolizes emergency in Shenguai.
