Camp Omega

Chapter 2

•Rowan's POV•

Yesterday was the first day of camp and I loved catching up with my camp friends. I made some new ones too.

Even met some cute guys...I still want to talk to that Peyton guy, he's so cute. But I'm too scared.

"Rowan. Hello Rowan" Sabrina says forcing me out of my thoughts

"Yeah" I nod

"Its 11:50 we have to go be at the bus in 10 minutes" she reminds me

"Oh yeah I forgot"

I grab my bag and name tag and we head out.  We are going to the lake, down the street.

"Ladies"  Corey says joining us

"Corey" we say in unison

"Going to the lake" he asks

"Yep. Are you" Sabrina says

"Yes ma'am I am"

We laugh and Sabrina puts her arms around Corey's shoulder then mine "let's go my gorgeous Rowboat and my handsome c-dawg"

When she says that I can't help but laugh.

"Okay Omega Campers" the worker says

It's that Dillon guy...cool.

He smiles "I'm Dillon and I'm gonna be your canoeing instructor, let's all pick a partner then we'll get started"

I look over at my friends and we all just stare at each other. After a few seconds I shrug "you two be partners, I'll find someone else"

"No Row-" Sabrina starts

I smile "its fine. I promise"

I walk over to Dillon "hey umm...I don't have a partner"

"What's your name" he asks

"Rowan"

He looks around "looks like everyone is partnered up"

"Yup" I say swaying back and forth

"Well Rowan" he smiles "do you mind partnering up with me"

I laugh "not at all"

"Hey Dillon" some guy yells jogging over towards us "looks like I'm in this group"

"How'd you get here?"

"Mr Lewis"

He nods "well...Great! My friend here needs a partner. We were just about to partner up but since you're here...you can have her"

He nods and smiles at me "I'm Peyton"

Oh I know.

"Hi, I'm Rowan" I say trying not blush

"Cool, ready to get our canoe on"

I laugh.

"That was ridiculous I know" he laughs

After Dillon helps everyone else get in their canoes...he helps us. Peyton gets in then reaches for my hand "be careful when you get in"

When he grabs it, butterflies fill my stomach and I freak out. I nearly fall, almost making the canoe flip, but he grabs me.

"Are you okay Rowan" Dillon asks

I nod. He unties our rope from the dock and we begin to move.

"I'm sorry" I laugh nervously as we row

"No worries, first time in a canoe?"

"Yea" I say embarrassed

"I remember my first time. I flipped it over" he laughs

For the next 30 minutes we talk and get to know each other.

"Hey Rowan, wanna swim"

"Swim? But I mean we'll get all wet" I say stating the obvious

He puts his hand in the water and splashes me "so its not gonna hurt"

I scream at first then splash him back.

"What's going on over there" Dillon yells

"Oh nothing. But hey can we Jump out" Peyton shouts

"You know if you do you have to walk back to camp"

"Sooooo is that a yes" he says

"Tie your canoe to the back of mine" he yells

We row over to him and he ties our canoe to his. Peyton get on the edge and jumps out, making the canoe move.

"Coming" he asks

"I'm scared" I admit

He holds out his arms "come on I'll help you. Be fast or it'll flip"

I get on the edge, he grabs my waist and I leap out. I go under then quickly come back up.

Kids everywhere starts to jump out, attaching their boats to the ones that weren't jumping.

All the boats get tied up and we put our life jackets in the van. Peyton was about to get in when Dillon stops him "I told you, you have to walk back"

He sighs and everyone that jumped, began to walk.

"I had fun today Rowan" Peyton says "you're cool"

"Thanks haha I had fun too" I blush

Sabrina and Corey walk up to us "Well that was fun"

I agree and introduce them to Peyton "this is Sabrina and  Corey"

"Hey" he waves "I'm Peyton"

It takes us about half an hour to walk back to camp, I'm exhausted. We say bye to the guys

"I'll see you later Rowan. Bye Sabrina" Peyton says

"Yeah bye" Corey adds

We wave and I turn to Sabrina and squeal "he is so hot"

"Rowan has a crush" she nudges me

"She does" I sigh with happiness

We laugh "I call shower first" Sabrina says and begins to run to he cabin

"Oh no you don't"

The part about jumping in the water, tying the canoes to other people's, and walking back to camp actually happened to me and my friends last summer.

This guy I know asked if we a could and my friend and I did. I was scared then he helped me out and I almost like died when I went under it was exhausting walking back.

(He was like my brother and way too old I DIDNT LIKE HIM LIKE THAT ...just saying haha)
